Hollister/ Abercrombie & Fitch...anyone do these recently?

The fee is still $8 but now you have to purchase something and you won't be reimbursed for the item? Do you still have to ask if you can purchase an item off the mannequin? Do you still have to ask for the employee's name (since they don't wear name tags)?

There's several available in my area and I'm just wondering if it's worth the paltry fee and the overwhelming smell of cheap cologne and loud music?

IMO, the report and shop itself is much easier. I'll do them once in a while and especially with an increased fee. You no longer have to ask the dumb questions and no need to get a name. You have to ask for a missing size and do some counts at register and fitting room. Easy Peasy. I was pleasantly surprised by the new report. Give one a try.

You may return the item after getting a good image of the receipt. No names were required.

To those of you that shop there: Do you wear a gas mask or do you just hold your breath the entire time?

I tend to hold my breath, which is why I'm usually light-headed and dizzy by the time I leave. Oh, and I wear earplugs too.
Any time I am required to do a return I expect to get a fee equivalent to at least 1.5 times the normal fee. After all I am making two trips to the store and quite possibly spending twice as long.
The store perfume "smell" assaulting the nose and the music assaulting the ears! What better shop could you ask for?smiling smiley
You could give them your real info or you could have made something up. As long as I have a receipt I feel entitled to my actual money back. Are you allowed to return the merchandise on these shops?

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
I did one recently. They have gotten much easier although I made the mistake of going during back to school/tax free weekend....Worse than black friday shopping! I haven't done my return yet, I don't make a special trip for that.
I dislike the Hollister shops because I hate being overly obvious when making observations, but the store is so damn dark that I feel like I need to bring a flashlight with me. As it is, I'm checking and double-checking and squinting because of the poor lighting.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
I did two of these last month for $20 apiece. I do not do the return as that would waste my time. There are like 13 questions now (mostly yes/no -- no narrative). I just purchase something on sale/clearance for my 17 year old mystery shop moocher son. He enjoys the t-shirts and underwear I get him (these look so much better than the regular Hanes he would usually get).

I will only do the location closest to my work as I can easily walk there (No gas expense!) and it gets me moving for exercise. I try to pick something up a couple of times a week at that mall.

Shopping across Indiana but mostly around Indianapolis.
I also read somewhere that the brand is changing its business model and is "lightening things up" and spraying less. I have been able to actually see the stuff lately and the smell has not been overpowering. I think it's a huge improvement, but they aren't asking me that.

These shops are a waste of time IMO. Yes, you can return the purchase, but you've got to do the following:

- Wait 20 minutes in line to try the item on in the fitting room

- Wait another 20 minutes in line to pay for the item

- Wait yet another 20 minutes in line to return the item

I think it was faster when you didn't need to make a purchase. These stores are notorious for being crazy busy, never having enough registers open etc etc. I personally, don't even think they're good filler shops. But, maybe someone else finds them worth it.
I only do them when I get "the call" because they're bonused. The p&r is a pain. Use a credit card and have the charges refused 30 minutes later. I swear the perfume killed all of the brain cells in the numbnuts that work in our store. They are so busy talking to eat other and staring into space.
There is one in my area now too, and I am already going to the mall tomorrow to do a Hot Topic shop. I want to add the Hollister shop, but I don't think I can because my youngest brother took a part-time job there over the summer before he went off to college. Meh, it's only $8 I guess, and I would just end up returning the merchandise (no reimbursement does not reel me in at all). Maybe I'll pick up a couple of the T Mobile shops tomorrow instead if I don't have much work from my regular job.

I did the AF and Hollister shops today. First of all, the stores are both still STINKY, DARK and LOUD smiling smiley

The reports are a cinch! The worst part was the line at Hollister. 16 people were ahead of me. A guy tried to cut in front of me and I reamed him out LOL.

A heads up....both stores had their lotions, bath gels and body sprays for cheap. At AF they were $5 and at Hollister they were $6.
