Found not one, but two, cockroaches at McD's

I did a McD's shop because it was bonused. After eating my sandwich in the dining room, and as I'm walking to evaluate the restroom, a cockroach scampered past me! I enter the restroom, look at the trash can, and there is a dead cockroach on the floor.

I honestly feel like I want to puke. Because of this, I had to give them a poor rating for the walk-in experience. I don't care how good the food is or how friendly the employees are. Finding cockroaches is a deal-breaker for me!

Ugh.

That really surprises me. I've found that McDonalds does a really good job locally of keeping their establishments really clean.
It surprised me too. I've never seen a single roach at any of the arch shops. Can't believe I found 2!
roaches are high in protein. Good for you.

Truth be told, where there are big food operations, there will be roaches.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
They say, that if you see roaches during the day scampering about, then there is a "roach infestation" going on, with many more hiding in the walls tongue sticking out smiley
What state is this? I know here, outside cockroaches are big and they can get into the house if you leave the door open too long. I can't stand them.
They come in with deliveries. Cases of ketchup and mustard and cups and straws may have a passenger hiding there. If they just got a delivery, the Orkin treatment may not have gotten all of them yet. Probably that's why the one in the bathroom was dead -- it encountered the pest treatment.

Regardless, it needed to be mentioned because whether roaches are inevitable or not, it creeps people out.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Could be worse, when my daughter was 17 she worked at McD's and a guy died in the bathroom. Even worse, the manager asked her to check the stall because she was the only one small enough to crawl under (wrong on so many levels, the police were not happy) after customers said the guy had been in there over 30 minutes and was not answering anyone who knocked. While the "situation" was being taken care of, they only closed the inside of the restaurant and kept the drive-thru open.
In my Kitchen Pests class, we were told that if you see a cockroach in the daytime, as mentioned above, it means there is not room for them in the walls because there are so many.

Deliveries can indeed be a source of cockroaches. There might be a business next door that is causing them.

And if you heard the Nightly Business Report the other night Mc D's is not doing well, especially in some Asian countries...They are scrambling to make changes to their menu that will satisfy the current appetite. I hear cockroaches are a delicacy some places.
My Kitchen Pest class also said that cockroaches carry 63 germs that are transmissable to humans.
The statement about deliveries is most likely true. Cardboard is like roach heaven.

There are reasons that a body stays in motion
At the moment only demons come to mind
I made the mistake one time of collecting the old cardboard type of egg carton for who knows what project.

Did you know that pesticide makers test their products on cockroaches that are bred in egg cartons?

Sons-of-a-beaches! tongue sticking out smiley
This brings to mind the "There was a foreign object in my sandwich." part of the report. I shudder when I see that, every time, because it makes me think of how many times that must have happened in order to be included in the report, and not just as an "Other."

Large chains have a precise routine re: controlling critters.........all sorts. What you experienced was unusual on the grand scale of things. Are you disgusted to the point of ending these?

"Was the restroom clean? Was the trash can overflowing? Was there a odor in the restroom?" MickyDees wants to know. smiling smiley
I know we have to count the napkins we receive. When did they start requiring us to count the roaches?
The restroom was clean and the trash was not overflowing. There were no specific questions involving bugs, though.

KathyC, I will probably do McD's shops in the future, depending on the bonus, but honestly I will never go to that McD's again.
I suggest they roll the cockroaches in flour and start a NEW menu item! "Mc-Cockroach Sandwich" smiling smiley

The restroom could not have been clean, if there is bugs or dead roach on the floor. The trash can was not over flowing now, that the other roach had scurried from it. I see you rated it poor but bugs in the bathroom would have downgraded safety and hygiene factor. Although the roaches MAY have drop off a previous customer(s)smiling smiley
I can't remember ever seeing one on any of my McD's shops. When I think about it, it's really surprising since they're everywhere here in Florida and can easily arrive from many different sources.

I once carried around a toad in my bag for about seven hours. Big fat one, at that. The guys at work thought it'd be funny... I didn't notice it until I got home that night after a round of gas station audits.
