ugh... bonefish grill... what did i get myself in to.....

im really regretting taking on this assignment.... filling out the survey now... i did cheesecake factory a while ago ,and i thought i remembered that survey was very brief. for some foolish reason i thought bonefish grill would be the same. well it is over 250 questions, 6 required photos, and about 20 short narratives. im 2 hours in on the survey and totally burnt out. definately not worth the measly giftcard. just thought i would vent - you have been warned !

cheesecake factory is the same restaurant company as bonefish grill right? i wonder why the surveys are so different. or am i remembering the cheesecake factory survey wrong? it has been a while.

it's this type of thing that makes me really wish i could see the surveys and questions before i apply to the assignment!

Thanks for the heads up. I got a call about bonefish last week and was too busy to look into it. I will keep in mind that it is a hard one. I usually don't do shops that take a great deal of time for just a meal.
just finished the survey... i admit i exageratted a little, it is not over 250 questions, it's about 210 questions. just as painful though!!!!!!! it took me 3 hours. SOOOO not worth it! i just realized i spend the same amount of time (actually probably less time, and no pics required...) on ruth's chris restaurant surveys, where they reimburse me $150 plus pay me plus reimburse me for mileage and parking. so in comparison... this is INSANE!!! run run run away from this assignment!!!!!
Thanks for the info! For a brief moment of insanity I actually contemplated doing one of these, until I read your post. They are now on my 10' poll list!
I was *almost* thinking about doing one. I think I just changed my mind. Thanks for the info!
Thanks so much for sharing. Although that is not enough money for me, I now know the report is long as well.
Wish I would have seen this before accepting! Yes the report is huge long and you only get reimbursed with a gift card! No money. There are so many restaraunt shops which pay something. I knew I should have said no....
I refuse shops that only reimburse (or pay) with Monopoly money (gift cards) on principle. If you can't pay in cash, you can't pay.

Glad I found this post. I was just going to accept one possibly, but the GC situation even looks weird. You lose unused balance and it won't cover tax, or alcohol - am I reading that right?

Different clients, different demands.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
I took my daughter and son in law to Bonefish Grill for brunch shop last Sunday after church. Many, many photos, SUPER EXPENSIVE food, poor service, and very S L O W, nope, I would never do one again. They want you to order multiple courses, photograph everything, identify a manager, (never saw one), and describe each detail of everything including if the soda was chilled and mixed properly.

The gift card didn't even begin to cover (less than half) of what we spent, and I would certainly never go back, so I guess I have a Christmas gift for someone when it finally arrives. In contrast, the very next day I did Cheesecake Factory and had great food, much more reasonable prices, and pleasant service amd was free of the burden of photographing each bite before I took it.

You have been warned..........................stay away...................
Oh no!!! I just accepted this shop. Any advice to make it a little easier for me. I am so new to this.
It would be reasonable, after reading the report through, to contact the scheduler to cancel and explain why. You wouldn't have to mention warnings from others on the board, just that you looked it over and it looked like too much time for just a gift card.
By the way, the reimbursement was two $25 promotional cards. As the assignment stated, they aren't good for taxes, alcohol, or tip so it doesn't really work to use them for an additional shops since you'll continually be out the money. Also, it isn't a gift card so it won't carry an unused balance.

Bonefish Grill is one of my favorite restaurants so I used gift card money I already had and now have the promotional cards so I can go again but I won't do it as a mystery shop again unless I have gift card money to spend.
As much as I enjoy good free food, I have found that the reports are excruciatingly long, you have to put your own money up front and it takes forever to get paid. I don't do those any more.
You can always sell the cards on eBay. Or to me at the lower discount than you would get on eBay. Yes, I can pay with PayPal!

Even if you see questions after you agree to the shop if it is unreasonable I contact the scheduler and ask if they would like to compensate me for the 250 questions and photos etc or would they rather find another shopper. I do not care if they will never use me again. It is better than being abused.
I have had a couple of those and make sure what I pick pays what it takes in time and effort. I have found I really like reward reveal ones they don't ask many questions and pay pretty well. I missed out on a testing facility one that paid 150.00 for about 2 hrs total time!
Just ate at Bonefish in Sarasota, Fl., (not a job). Can't see why they need so much info. Had bang bang shrimp tacs, amazing, and te dinner was 10.00.....not worth all that work.

Live consciously....
How can they possibly have 210 questions? (I believe you) but what the heck can you ask in 210 questions? Not to mention they pay only in gift cards, multiple photos and it takes you 3 hours to do the report..

They basically got you for FREE and all the information.

NO thanks!

Big Ten Foot Pole Shop! tongue sticking out smiley

I would like to add a certain MSC had O'Charley's that reimbursed with gift cards "but" you could spend as little as $9 bucks for lunch and you get $25 gift card. You could spend $13 on dinner and you got a $40 gift card. The reports were easy and fast.

This nightmare Bonefish shop needs to be re-evaluated..
The Benihana I used to shop closed. But the shop was easy except that you had to have a drink in the bar while waiting for your table. HAD to have a drink in the bar. But there was never a wait for a table. So then you had to go to the bar afterwards. It was an odd scenario, but otherwise easy. No one eating in the restaurant, no one drinking in the bar. I wasn't surprised when that one closed.

I did one in July.. i stopped doing these b/c CC Factory was the ONLY one LEFT here in CO for many years.

I love the food (usually) at Bonefish, but it wasn't great this time, overcrowded, slow and wrong.

But, I can get it down in just over an hour. I take GREAT notes smiling smiley smiling smiley

What I do NOT LIKE is being reimbursed w/GC and NOT $$$, like I laid out.
Cheesecake Factory and Bonefish are two different clients. Cheesecake is easy, have eaten here many times.
You could write a note to the scheduler and tell her/him you "almost" committed suicide, after reading the guidelines and ended up in the psyche wardsmiling smiley
In Co, Cheesecake AND Bonefish are shopped with the same company.. been w/them over 15 years.
Our lunch/brunch reimbursement will be (whenever it arrives) only a $25 gift card. My daughter, upon seeing the prices, said, "Mom, this is so expensive! How much are you getting?" Beings that I considered this a welcome home treat for my son in law in the army, I told her, "Don't worry about anything. Order whatever you want." And I sincerely meant that. One appetizer, 3 entrees, one dessert, over $60, before tip. I made sure I stated over and over, too expensive. Would you return? NO. Why not? Too expensive. Did you get a good value? No. Why not? Too expensive.
THANK YOU! If I go to Bonefish, it will be on my own so I can not only enjoy the meal, but the time afterwards too!
