Hotel shop gone bad, WWYD?

If the client rejects the report, most likely they investigated and had a lengthy discussion with the MSC... The problem with your door was probably brought up. If you turn around and claim a refund because of the door, the MSC would know.

I say, move on. Take a deep breath. It sucks. However, it's more important to keep the relationship with the MSC.

That's a really good point that I didn't think of Linda. Thanks.

I think one factor is if you're out a $40 hotel bill or a $200 hotel bill.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Good news, the shop was accepted it just seems it took longer than normal for the refund to get initiated.

@bgriffin - AWESOME!

I find that hotel shops are quite forgiving and flexible. I once missed a lobby bar, because by the time I got there at 8:00 pm, it was closed. What bar closes at 8:00 pm, in a large convention hotel, in a high tourist area? I texted the msc and was it was okay to shop another bar in the hotel.

Don't tell me...this is one of those hotel shops that the MSC wants you to work for free and will only pay a reimbursement?

Darn!!! If that is the case, you surely had tough luck.

It's been a while rardon, welcome back!

I've got one of those that's effectively just what you describe coming up this weekend... and I'm very happy about it!
Ok....its your right to work for free and to give away your hard work.

Think about it...the MCS is making money on your behalf and probably increasing their pay by not paying you a commission or fee.

I disagree. You are not working for free. You are working for a free hotel stay, food and most likely bar. And maybe even a beach rental and other luxuries. I earn hotel reward points towards future stays and I earn extra cash back for using my credit card. Most of my hotel shops do pay me a fee but if I really want to stay somewhere or I need a place to stay while traveling, free/reimbursed is better than spending my own money.

I wasn't just joking when I welcomed you back, I distinctly remember you posting quite a bit about this subject in the past and I respect your opinion. I'll send you a PM so I don't drag this too far off topic.
I agree with S2L. The points I earned from shopping hotels have saved me over $1000/year in personal expenses, for the last five years. I have used my hotel points while traveling with my daughter to medical school interviews in large cities. The rooms in NYC and Miami would have cost over $225/night. I used my free nights and being bumped up to Elite and Platinum levels, we were able to get concierge level, with free beverages, breakfasts and the evening hors d'oeuvres (coconut shrimp, chicken pastries, imported cheese, stuffed mushroom) were better than if we ate out.

The hotel shops are not that difficult. The fee usually covers my gas to the hotel. I get to float in the pool, hang out in the bar drink, eat breakfast, lunch and dinner without having to cook and do dishes.

All's well that ends well. I hate it when the slightest thing goes wrong with a shop and then I have these tension-filled days before seeing it get approved.

I am happy to hear that. Thanks for posting this thread. I learned a lot from the discussion.
