Inspections

Have any of you done inspections? Usually entails going to a business and asking a raft of ?s about their security methods and then taking pics of same. The questionairres are long, lots of pics, lots of ink and paper used up and lots of time posting. Often the pay is less than $20, and I'm wondering what others get paid.

Around that amount, sometimes plus a travel bonus.

They're dead easy. I'd rather do them all day than mystery shop.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I'd do these all day long if I could. The reports are very easy once you get the hang of it. But the competition in my area for these shops is fierce. They fly off the boards.
I did a bunch of storage space audits like this last week. I have to agree with both previous posters, I'd rather do these than mystery shops.
I saw a storage space audit for $44. Then I read here about the MS company. I'm very glad I did. I deactivated myself immediatly as they pay quarterly, and only after you threaten small claims court.
I prefer mystery shops.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
I only do the leftovers where the subject line declares "Distance Pay Available" or "Name Your Price." I ask for $13 to $45 extra and get it about half the time. I enjoy them, but the immediacy yet uncertainty of the date and time going into it, since it's dependent upon the contact's availability, is a big downside for me. Plus I've been burnt three times by these during routes when the contact has been significantly late.
Yep, that's the one. I'm aware of the reports from others, but I also like to see for myself. There was no required purchase and I didn't pass on any other jobs in order to do them so I'm not really out anything if I don't get paid.
Due to them flying off the boards in my area I have not done one this year. Did 20 or so total in the past couple of years. I liked the report and had no troubles but did not travel far to do them. I did not pay for background check this year as not worth it for number of jobs. I never had trouble getting paid for them or the pizza shops that required a tool to take photos. I cannot speak to current payment as have not taken a job from them in 2014.
Marj, search business verification's on this forum for more responses.
I'll do ones within about 15 miles at their stated price, but ones further out, I do like elcarev68, and ask for more.

To each his own; I personally hate them. There isn't anything wrong with them overall, but I found that on three of the four I did, I had to wait longer than it was worth. The contacts were at the location at the time of the appointment, but I was kept waiting for one reason or another (needed someone else to get us in a locked file room, phone call interruptions, etc). If all goes as planned and it is nearby, they are worth it. If it doesn't, you could be wasting a lot of time.
I love them! I take them at the stated fee and only do nearby ones. I find them so interesting plus the MSC pays promptly, every two weeks.

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.
I'd much rather do them than mystery shopping. I've never had a problem with the contacts not being available when I have arrived. They are always glad to see me and I do not have to be discreet. The data input is easy and the number of pics is not as bad as you think. These inspections do not stay on the board long. As soon as they are posted someone grabs them.
the best ones to do are the bank owned homes.
You just go and take pics of the property that
they want. No contacts to worry about and just
show up during daylight hours

There are no stupid questions, but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots

I wish I could find the bank owned homes ones. I might find a house to buy at the same time!
I did the BV's but would only take them if I could fit them in. I prefer mystery shopping! smiling smiley
There are different ones than the ones referred to above. They can be as different as mystery shops are for different clients.

There is one for an automotive store that occurs every two years or so that I enjoy doing. Much of that is because of the employees at the store. They have made it easy and enjoyable. Pay was $21 and entering the shop was easy enough. I'll look for it when it comes around again.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
Thanks again for your input. Yes, the bank owned properties are the easiest of anything. I guess I'm being offered the usual pay.
Guess I'll have to do more looking as I have not found the bank-owned properties although I have signed on with all the companies listed below and on MSPA. Perhaps in my area there is a shopper who has them all sewed up.
