200-500 item Audit - Undercover? Anyone do these?

Received a message for a shop that pay .xx/item, total pay around $50/$150 per audit. You MUST use Excel spreadsheet, not Google, and recommends you have a friend with you who's entering the information or if alone, use a recorder and take pictures. COVERTLY. What store is not going to get suspicious of someone looking at their merch and taking pictures or entering information on a computer (tablet/netbook/laptop). Has anyone ever done these successfully?

For $150, I'd at least try.

Bring a teenager. (Can we rent those?) They're forever on their gadgets and it would not be suspicious at all for one to be standing there in the store, looking bored/snitty as hell, buried in their iPhone.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
I've done something similar, but I had the OK to say I was doing a research project if approached by an employee.

My method was this: I took pictures of everything I needed with of course, verifying you can read the product information (weight, brand, etc.) and price tag.

From there,
1. I extracted all the pictures to my laptop at home,
2. Used the names of the pictures into a spreadsheet,
3. Added columns that identified everything shown in the picture. Ex. Brand, product, weight, price.

After spending the time to get all that itemized, I could apply formulas to figure out which was most expensive, most expensive by unit price, etc.

I don't see any issues being noticed that you're taking picture, especially if you're in a large grocery store and / or in during a busy time.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!
I've done this in hardware stores and large blue/yellow furniture stores and both places I used a mobile with a good camera to take photos of everything and then analyze things once back home.
And nowhere did anyone seem to take any notice or ask me what I was doing.
