Comments - "Scheduler of the Year" Contest

Yes, This forum should be closed to MSC employees and owners who are here touting their own companies.

Jacob, it is a Mystery Shopper Forum, not Mystery Shopping Company Owners Forum.

The best scheduler is a No Scheduler. I love the instant self-assign shops.

Well if you have decided that a winner must prevail and the new/questionable nominations have tweaked genuine results, why not have two winners: one nominated by established members (you develop a criteria) and another for new members here. Just a thought.
This is not the Mystery Shoppers Forum. This is the Mystery Shop Forum. Refer, please, to the top of the page.

The way our business is organized we cannot have mystery shopping jobs without mystery shopping companies. If we cut them out, we have no work. If this comes down to us against them, us loses and them wins. Cooperation will have positive effects while animosity will have negative effects.

I have no comment. I just thought that should be read twice.

I think that the Scheduler of the year contest was a great idea! What's wrong with telling people that you appreciate them? If the ballot box is stuffed what is the harm? Is there a prize? If the only prize is getting your name out there then hey no harm no foul imo.

Again great idea!

Thank you for simplifying things. pammie. I agree 100%. How many of us get tired of hearing that we're appreciated?

Not me! Think of the irony, you came up with your own version of a 'Hero Citation' posters get to know the names of schedulers that are not difficult and the schedulers get to see that shoppers really appreciate their efforts. Win-win to me!

I wonder if Darius Jackson won the 2014 Scheduler of the Year award. If so, I'm sure that I'll receive 25 emails a day over the next 10 days making us aware about it, in honor of his modus operandi.
Pammie, I agree with you 100%. Some of the people complaining the loudest didn't even participate. If you don't like it fine - just go away.

Don't like who won? Don't biotch if you didn't vote.

I didn't participate because I didn't want to slight anyone, there are a lot of schedulers that I love working with - all of the ladies at TrendSource as well as at Servicecheck, but since they are all so nice and helpful how do I nominate one without alienating the other? Nope I voted in my head.

Neither Darius Jackson nor anyone at Trendsource was nominated.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
I think we want to value our diversity and appreciate that we all have different opinions. And everyone is entitled to express their opinion on each thread. It would be a sad forum if we encourage forum members to just "go away" if they don't like a particular thread.
Trendsource does not allow its employees to participate on this forum. They have been warned to stay away...

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
Who told us to "go away?" I voted, I nominated and I gave opinion, The last time I checked, I was still living in the USA and freedom of speech still prevails.

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.” ~ Mark Twain

“To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.” ~ J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Maybe she's referring to a comment I made that basically said if someone hated the concept or thought it was stupid, they should go away and leave the rest of us to our fun.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Me too dspeakes. I said if you don't want to participate and just gripe about it go away. Leave the rest of us to enjoy our contest. There are lots of other threads to spend time on. Why keep bothering people who are enjoying something if you don't want to be a part of it? It's like the little kid on the playground who doesn't want to play hopscotch so instead of going off and playing another game he just stands there and taunts and throws things at the hopscotch players.

I’m a strong believer in free speech and I agree that everyone is entitled to offer his or her own passionate opinion. It was very disheartening though, when some of the opinions included personal attacks on fellow forum members, on individual schedulers and even on a company owner.

I also took exception with some of the inflammatory language used, such as “stuffing the ballot box”. I will admit that I was initially influenced by those making this accusation, however the more I thought about, the more I realized that this was not the case at all. According to "The Free Dictionary", the idiom, “stuffing the ballot box” means “to fill a ballot box with illegal votes or with more votes than the number of actual voters.” This was not the case. If the terms “campaigning” or “spreading the word” were used instead, I would agree that that was being done and would (and do) heartily endorse it.

In my opinion, LJ’s analogy, above, perfectly describes my feelings about the handful of members who chose not to actively participate in the contest, but chose, instead, to stand on the sidelines and criticize. I’m still trying to fathom how that positively contributed to the contest.

It would be nice if we could all let go of this experience and spend our energy celebrating the winner and runner-ups as well as all the schedulers, who were recognized.

StillLearning... your contest inspired me to:

1) Email others' nominations to schedulers I work with, with a note saying "Hey, look, I'm not the only one who sings your praises!" and
2) Look for and use the "Shout Out" thread others have mentioned. What happened in this contest, the contributions... that should be an ongoing thing.

Yes, reminds of election. I did not vote for the winner but he was elected as mayor. at less than 50%. Some people who persuaded me to vote for him were suddenly complaining about him. Then people who did not even go to the polling station were upset that he won. They shouted to the high heavens. Why even bother?

Oh risinghorizon, this is another one of those occasions, when I want to "love" a post. I love, love, loved your analogy. Thank you! smiling smiley
