I'm not sure I want to do our Wendy's. I went in there a couple weeks ago to grab lunch before I had to go to work. They've been advertising that Smoked Gouda chicken sandwich so I thought I'd try it.
I never eat at Wendy's. Occasionally I pull in and get a 99 cent Frosty, but that's about it.
So I ordered a sandwich and a drink. Got to the window. They told me the total. Gave me my food. I look in the bag. There are fries I didn't order. I pull up to the waiting area and get out and go in. I realize I left the receipt in the car. I step back and get it, and go inside again. There is a line. I hang by the side of the counter at the front of the line. While I'm standing there I look at the receipt to make sure they had actually charged me for the combo and I realize the receipt refers to some other sandwich entirely.
I get noticed. The woman beckons me over. "You got the wrong order, right?" I said I had; she hands me a different bag. I asked her what I was charged for. She goes to check the receipt. I look in the new bag. It has a hamburger in it.
At this point I have to be at work in 8 minutes. I tell her to forget fixing it, just refund my money. She does so. I think it was the right amount; I was never sure what I had been charged because I had just thrown the change and receipt into my console compartment in the car. I never knew if the receipt I had was the amount I had been charged or not.
I kept the tea. No point bringing it back; they would have had to pour it out anyway.
I still have not had my Smoked Gouda Chicken sandwich.
And thank God I wasn't on a mystery shop. I wouldn't have wanted to try to write up that report!
Time to build a bigger bridge.
