Deleted posts would generally be either spammy (promoting a business) or rude or profane. Possibly one might be deleted (more likely it would be edited with an explanation) if it contained personal information such as phone numbers of email addresses of another person.

Usually a misplaced post (such as posting a comment, not a job, on the job board) gets moved to the correct board, not deleted. This board is very lightly moderated and it is rare for posts to be deleted.

Are you certain it was deleted, and not that you forgot which of the forums here you posted under? If you click on your own name and click on the link to show all posts, does it not show up there? It's easy to forget where you posted something as there are several forums here. For instance, I almost never visit the "General Chat" forum or the "Merchandising" forum, so if I did post something over there I likely would not remember that I did and would be looking for it under "Mystery shop discussion" and might think it was deleted if I couldn't find it again.

Never mind.... Jacob explains below, this was a unique situation not the normal moderation that happens here.

Time to build a bigger bridge.

His post did not fall into any of those categories nor did he forget where it was.

Deletions are certainly happening with more frequency than in the past, when the board was very lightly moderated.
The post in question was definitely deleted yesterday morning at about 6:30 AM. It was not moved. Several other posts were deleted within a two-day period, all from the same thread.
I think I owe an apology for how I've handled this situation. I think that I should have created an open dialogue from the start. I have been hiding posts in the scheduler's nomination thread, because that I see thread as just for nominations. It would spiral out of control if discussion was in there too.

There seems to be a lot of anger about the fact that company representatives and schedulers are promoting and participating in the contest. I don't want to stop anyone from commenting about the contest, or expressing anger, criticism, or complaints. I should have been more clear that such discussions should be separate from the nominations thread.

I was frankly caught off guard by the level of negativity the contest seems to have inspired. I'm sorry that I have not been the best at responding to it.

Mantis,

Like you, I had posts deleted; two for cause, I used profanity, but I've no idea why the remaining entries were removed. As I've never been a why person, I respected that the actions had occurred and neither desired nor required an explanation. This is Jacob's board and he alone has the prerogative to delegate and/or reach decisions that he deems necessary for its successful operation. It's very possible that the individual who removed your post was not being consciously dis-courteous, rather they were acting for, what they perceived as, the good of the board.
Looks like I missed all the drama. I'm sure if I wait another day or two, there will be new drama to comment on.

It really helps now that both threads are right next to each other, at the top of the page. smiling smiley

It *was* getting super-crazy-annoying with all of the commentary/discussion mixed in with the nominations. Especially when it was SUCH a simple (and totally clear) (not to mention totally common-sense) request to please keep it separate.

<snark> I guess the MSCs are right! Some of us really DO need things spelled out extra-explicitly, three or four times, some of those times in ALL-CAPS, and some of those times in big bold multi-colored fonts. With lots of exclamation points!!!!!!!!! </snark>

And some of is didn't bother to read the original post. If the new requirement is to read every single word of every single post and only post things that make people want to hold hands and sing kumbaya then maybe that should be listed in the posting guidelines.

What did I miss? Looks like it's been handled appropriately either way. Y'all are a nice bunch

No need to read every single word of every single post, that's just silly. But it is, generally, a good idea to have a reasonably good grasp of what's going on in a thread before jumping in.

Just like at a big party or family gathering or reunion or something ~ there's always someone who comes in to one of the ongoing conversations late, and then says something that turns out to be... out of place.

Also, no need to only post only kumbaya. It's just that there's a place for everything, and everything has a place. And, all kumbaya isn't any fun at all. smiling smiley

But. like I said, it's WAY better and far more user-friendly now, with both threads in the same place, right next to each other. Thanks, Jacob!

LOL
I agree, LisaSTL! Life is too short to read every single word of every single post and only... what you said. smiling smiley
