Just missed out on a needed Jiffy Lube shop and wondered how often they are posted please.

Is a third msc really doing them??? Am signed up with two others that have them...

But Circle of Service has a large non-dealership client who does oil changes.

Here it's every month, two different mscs, occasionally overlapping.

Intellishop also has an oil change client and I did an oil change for Shoppers Critique last year.

Bestmark has oil changes too, Arch.

A mystery shopping Service, has some oil change clients.

BTW are violations described here? A MScompany versus a MSclient? Both are here. Just want to be clear.

No linking MSC to client = no violation.

The fact that a client and some companies are named is violatable. It is not rock science. The question of a client oil changes would be the question of inquiry. I don't think the repliers has to mention the client to not be violated. I could see a third msc or fourth msc offers oil changes. But specifics MScs are stated. Violations are violations. They can not be sugar coated. A client is mentioned and several MSC are mention, all in the same post. Just working the system

Specific MSCs cannot be mentioned when THEIR client has been mentioned.

You're right, violations are violations, non-violations are non-violations, redundancy is redundant.

Can you do these shops and get the synthetic oil, and pay whatever extra that it would cost?

I did one where I needed not only synthetic oil but an extra almost a quart. I have a small car so I was surprised about the extra quart. I was paid but it went over the reimbursement amount and even though I used a pretty good coupon I think I was out of pocket more than if I had just had my oil changed as part of my regular service at my regular place without all the hassle of a mystery shop. I did mine at Jiffy Lube. Not sure which msc it was but whoever does Jiffy Lube in my town. And the "signature service" they included seemed to be a quick wipe of the windows with a damp rag. The people were nice.

Saying which MSC does which place is a violation, and that has not occurred here.


I need to find one myself. Most that I have seen allow you to pay extra for synthetic. The only thing that is always forbidden (darn it!) is bringing in a diesel. One company doesn't allow certain recent-model cars, of which mine is one of them. Something about the CVT transmission.

I have a hybrid and can take it to most of them.

Always read the requirements before taking the shop, in case your car is one of the exceptions. I have had my oil changed at a national chain car repair place, two different dealerships (two different cars), Jiffy Lube, a couple of places that do car washes and oil changes, and there is one I've seen that I can't do because of my CVT transmission on my current car. So there are lots of options. But I actually had to pay for an oil change a couple months ago because I couldn't find one when I needed one.

That hurt!

I'm due for another and having trouble finding one. I may have to break down and take that Jiffy Lube one on the way to Phoenix this week. I prefer all the others because they usually pay better and have less up front to wait for reimbursement.

dspeakes, I've a diesel as well.

Circle of Service's client allows diesel vehicles. No restrictions on full synthetic either. They allow you to print coupons from the website, which had me paying only $5 more than reimbursement. Pay was $15, so I profited $10 for a quick report.

Do they really? I haven't done one in awhile. My diesel needs an oil change too (this is a diesel truck -- it takes 15 quarts). But to do a C of S, I have to drive over 200 miles round trip -- the fuel alone would make it a losing proposition. The ones I've done only had a $30 or so reimbursement and an oil change on my truck is usually about $125.

I've seen that they've expanded a bit. We have three new ones in my area... used to only be two. Have you checked in awhile?

And yikes!!! For my husband's truck, we use Bestmark, since they cover his dealer. We only come a little out of pocket for his, about $15 of the total $75 cost. For my car, I use Circle of Service. And you're right, the reimbursement is only $30, but they had a coupon on their website which dropped my price from $60 to $34.95. The client allows the use of any of their coupons to drive your cost down lower.

First I have to find a shop.

I've been taking the diesel to local mechanics up here. Not cost effective to drive to the valley, and they probably know that. But if I could find a shop I could do on the way to get hay (in the valley) I might be able to save something on the oil change. I haven't changed the oil in it in ... heck, I don't even remember how long it's been. Two years? Three? I drive it about 1000 miles a year is all. Three or four trips to get hay (250 miles round trip) and maybe a few local trips to the vet is all I do any more. Can't afford to drive it anywhere for fun.

I see Jiffy Lube in my area about every 6 months or so.
