Thanks for helping me understand.. I've missed a few weeks worth of posts on here. I get your situation but the previous poster not so much. Shops must be slim pickings in the area if you have to take a Lego shop when you hate kids and have no interest in doing anything with the purchase other than making a profit. To me it seems like a scam.. If they wanted to pay you for your time, they would.. but they don't. I hope the MSC puts an end to that making it exchange or credit only. It just doesn't sit right with me, sorry. smiling smiley To me it's comparable to shopping with multiple profiles, shopping same location/different MSC, etc. Not honest.

If it's reimbursement only and you return the product, how does that factor on your taxes? Taxable income since you returned it and kept the money, not the product, or reimbursed business expense?

I don't do my own taxes either. I just keep everything, hand it over, and say "Work your magic."

I do hotel shops when I travel for work, and I get reimbursed/reversed from the MSC and my company. Restaurant shops too. Only one I can claim as a reimbursed business expense, the other must be declared as taxable income. No double-dipping.

@BBird: I have no idea. I just started MSing and being an IC this past March. I guess I will find out when it's time to do my taxes!

@Dixie: no problem. But how is it dishonest to return something? I dont recall the guidelines specifically stating not to bring it back. Just don't return it as part of the shop. To do all that work and get paid nothing is unfair, I agree. But I fail to see how returning it is a big deal? Like I said before, the shop is located in an area with a bunch of other shops. I'm already there doing those...Why pass that one up because I'd have to return something I'm not specifically told to return?
I commented on hating kids to explain I have no reason to keep a child's toy. I don't know any children nor have any of my own.
I was going to say.. One would need an accountant for that! Great question BBird

I believe she's stating more that, on the surface, it does seem dishonest to return something you've been/are getting reimbursed for.

ORRRRR, Plan B...

You could get the Harrier kit (It should be going for around $35), mail it to BBird, BBird will pay you for it and for the shipping, and you'll still get the reimbursement from the MSC.

Plus side that BBird gets the Harrier kit she wants and you don't have to make a return trip to that store.

Awesome! It's the one with the mechanics in green flightsuits, not blue.

Ha! I love this shop, though, for the life of me, I can't get a better score than a 4/5 with this MSC. I also think it's totally weird that these will sit on the board as long as they do. They're not the easiest report, but they're not the worst for $30 in presents.

The harder I work, the luckier I get.
I have completed many a reimbursement shop where returns were strictly taboo and others where you are allowed to return your purchase. I have performed shops that instruct you not to purchase a clearance or sale item if you intend to return it as the item may not be returnable. Unless the instructions explicitly state you are not to return, returns are perfectly legitimate and OK. I prefer NOT to return but do so when I do not want the item or cannot find something to purchase within the reimbursable amount or something that I'm willing to lay out cash for on top of the reimbursement.
Hey BBird. I came across a Lego store while doing another shop at a local mall. Dashed in to ask about the Harrier kit (green uni's not blue). Two different guys told me there is no such kit and asked for a number. If you have a kit number, I'll be happy to have them order it and I'll send it off to you. PM me if you have such a number!

I don't know why this says "Topic Deleted" but...

BBird,

Did you ever get the Harrier kit you wanted? I did the shop tonight but they didn't have any in that store.
