CASTING DIRECTOR LOOKING FOR MYSTERY SHOPPERS

Last week I was contacted by a casting director who is looking for mystery shoppers to cast in an upcoming television show. I told Eileen would pass to word to all of our mystery shoppers. Here is the blurb about the show:

MYSTERY SHOPPERS: GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO IDENTIFY A BAD EMPLOYEE AND WHIP A BUSINESS INTO SHAPE?

I received something similar to this and I called them and they wanted my credit card number because I had to pay them. This was a few years ago and I don't remember exactly what it was. Just saying..
It sounds like if you are fat, ugly or mostly unattractive, you are not going to be on this show tongue sticking out smiley
This is kind of weird. "We are searching nationwide for a dynamic, photogenic mystery shoppers, management consultants, or business consultants to host a new show." They're asking for business consultants and mystery shoppers to host the show? I fail to see the connection. Mystery shoppers do not tell businesses what to do. And once they're on TV, they're useless as shoppers.

I wonder if they are going to send in mystery shoppers (yeah, dynamic and photogenic -- that's the way to blend in and not be noticed) to gather information and then have the business consultants make recommendations?

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Sounds a bit of a scam to me. I bet they do want your credit card number so they can keep you in their "data base" of shoppers and you only have to pay a small fee per month. Of course that will automatically be deducted from your credit card and there will be no way to stop it because it will be impossible to find them. Just a thought.
This was part of an email from Feedback msc. I am not certain about it however.

Gypsy, I would like to investigate a little as a possible scam. Would you consider PMing me the full info including cut/pasted body of email, headers, etc?

How dynamic or photogenic could mystery shoppers possibly be? I mean... Who would tune in to see us in a gas station, checking coffee filters... or at the mall ordering and eating a Cinnabon?

Plan the work. Work the plan.
No, counting napkins and checking for embossing! That would be riveting on TV. Not to mention photographing restrooms.
I have received this recently and deleted it. If legitimate I have no interest.

Being photogenic is probably not a good thing for a mystery shopper. It's much easier if we are unmemorable and can just blend in with the background.
Not being photogenic is also a problem if you don't blend into the background. Can you imagine Al Bundy as a mystery shopper?

TY Gypsy. I checked it out. I thought at first it might be someone spoofing their website or a phishing scam. It looks to be a legitimate company and website. That DOESN'T mean it's automatically safe, a good idea or anything else. I'm not endorsing it - just saying it looks real.

Not a good idea for me personally so I'll pass. Y'all can do as you like with it.
