Honey Baked Ham

Just wondering if takes a personal recommendation from the Pope to get one of these? I apply immediately, wait a few days, and then get an email saying it was assigned to another shopper. I like first applied first assigned better.

Might be that they just want seasoned shoppers, don't want anyone to pork it up.

These are like Gold. It's like a feeding frenzy when these come out. I think they are used as special perks for favorites. Make friends with the scheduler.
I have done 5 of them, by a certain BIG mystery shopping company. They usually go on the board and I manage to grab one or two each year...smiling smiley
Unless you actually hear the email plop into your inbox and reply immediately, you will be too late. As AM says, they are like gold. I manage to catch one every 2-3 years and I live near three outlets.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I don't know why, their ham is not that good. We had one for Easter once and it was dry and tough. I did better going to the regular store and making my own honey glaze and it was cheaper. Now I go to the meat market by us and order fresh, same with turkeys fresh is best.
It amazes me when I have done this that the package you receive is not sealed. The foil is open in the bag. Wide open every time. You would think they would have a more secure system to keep it sanitary.
I've done it twice, once at Easter and one at Christmas. Big company, assignments gone immediately upon posting.
I worked for a grocery store. Very cheaply, you could pick out the ham or turkey (both) have it cooked, sliced ( if you prefered) and warm. Ready for pick up on any holidays for $10 more than the meat cost.
Great deal and great food for the customer, sucked for the employee that had to come in on the holiday.

Are the shops that the boards for Thanksgiving? Seems so far away, but I guess it's really not.

The ham is absolutely not all that.

Schedulers and editors get first dibs. Their perk.
I happen to like their ham. I live within a couple blocks of a shop but have never been able to snag a shop. However, I did get a free sandwich for my birthday and one for joining their e-club. They have a smoked turkey/applebutter sandwich they are touting now that is delish.
Because that stuff isn't cheap. I don't know how much they reimburse but I'd take one of these in a heartbeat. But they don't want my heartbeat. I don't remember who the MSC is, but it's one I've never shopped for I think because all they have around here are clothing shops. I'm sure that's part of why they never pick me. But it's not worth it to me to do a bunch of shops I don't like all year in the hope that they might favor me with a ham shop.

I like the ham, but not enough to do a bunch of shops I hate to get one. I can do a bunch of shops I like instead, and use the money I earn to buy my own ham.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Here in So Cal, Honey Baked Ham also offers monthly shops, whereby shoppers order up to $16 worth of sandwich meals off the deli menu, to-go. The shopper is to assess cleanliness, sampling, service, and of course the food. It does not pay much (I think $5 plus $16 reimbursement) but if you want to try other items, these shops are always seem to go unclaimed for weeks. I don't think it's the same MSC that does the whole hams holiday shops, though.

funny, thinking very seriously about moving 'back home' to So. O.C.............
I've about had it with this company. The also do car washes in my area and of course the pay is not generous. But the parcel them out just like they do the ham shops. Not to the first that applies but the shopper that they apparently prefer. Does any other MSC NOT work on a simple first come self-assign system?
I believe that many MSCs assign shops to shoppers who have a track history of providing reliable results to them, rather than first-come, first-served.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
When I run into that problem I solve it easy - I don't request ANY shops from them. My own form of blacklisting.

You would be amazed at what shoppers get wrong more
frequently than many would think

There are no stupid questions, but there are a lot of inquisitive idiots

Rules me out. I'm not a favorite, and the scheduler is not a favorite of mine. The upside is that I don't like spiral sliced hams.
