I bit off more than I can chew!

I took on seven audits which looked pretty straight forward and were all in a 15 mile radius. However, I just "completed" two and am still so confused. The staff does not want to help in any way and it is more complicated than I expected. I missed the tiny blurb that says I have to stock. I do not want to finish them but I guess I committed myself, boo!

Lisa, can you provide some additional info like either the client or the MSC, so we can help you?

they are audits and you have to stock shelves?

Sometimes a shopper is justified in saying "No thanks. I won't complete the assignment." Hopefully the pay is commensurate with the amount of work you're expected to do!

I usually don't take on multiples of unknown shops for this very reason. If I do one and find it's okay then next time I'll take on multiples if offered. Might be a lesson in this for you.
I emailed a msc and asked to see the instructions before accepting a shop last week. When I saw them, there was no way in hell I was going to do those shops for that fee. Nope.
Yeah... Until you have been doing these kind of shops for an extended period of time, I wouldn't recommend taking on more than a couple at a time. When you've figured out the tips and tricks, employees become familiar with you then by all means go gusto. Good luck with this.

Lisardh, I feel your pain, girl! But I want to be sure I understand the problem. Are you unclear on the expectations for the audits? Or do you just feel that it's more work that the pay is worth? If it's the first, then the MSC needs to clarify things for you. Period. How the heck can they expect you to perform the audit if you're not sure what you're auditing??? If it's the latter, then if it were me, I'd suck it up and finish the rest. I feel pretty strongly, though, that if I make a commitment, I have to keep it. Even if my cash pay is a pittance and my largest earnings were of the live-and-learn variety.
OK, the cynical part of me wants to say, "You are surprised that no one in Walmart wants to help you?" But there is a sympathetic part of me which feels your pain. As someone said, if I have any doubt, I accept just one as a trial. I did an audit of a grocery store today which I had been avoiding, but it turned out to be remarkably easy despite the 35 page (yes, 35 page) reporting form.

I have four of those on auto assign. Once you know what they are looking for its really just snapping photo's of missing items or any signage problem and checking dates and the never ending RR check. Since the store is a discount store they have a very limited number of items and most grocery slots are quite large and I usually end up with about 13-15 photos. I do it out of order as they will have you run back and forth the way they wrote the very drawn out survey.

I did it in the order in which the store was set up. I learned that much from doing audits of other places. I found very few missing items, and was impressed with that particular location. I did find one out of date item, which truly surprised the manager. It took me about 30 minutes total. The oddest part was having to be led to the bathroom waaaaay in the back.
