new post office shops?

Post office is going to get into the grocery delivery business.

I see the shop now: must wait up all night to see when the groceries
come. Check to make sure not damaged. etc etc

"The U.S. Postal Service has come up with a new plan to deliver groceries! The agency has submitted a proposal to regulators that would allow it to make deliveries between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. Grocery stores would have to drop off the food at post offices between 1:30 a.m.- 2:30 a.m."

Oh my gosh... no thanks. I also see the PO shop now requires the post receipt to say the box dimensions ON the receipt not at the post office but at Walmart or wherever you buy the box ahead of time for the part C shops.
What? How can we control how the store receipt reads?

The harder I work, the luckier I get.
Easy. Buy the box at Staples. They print the box size on the receipt. I actually think the receipts from Walmart do also.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
the nearest Staples to me is 100 miles from here. Not going to happen.

Maybe I'll take a picture of the box size on the box itself, with the receipt in the photo if it comes to that.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I suspect that would work. I think they must have had problems with clerks who denied that the box could have ever been that large.

I don't like shops where I can only pay in cash! I won't do them anymore. I like the protection of using a credit card.
You need to be protected from the postal service? If the MSC were to deny the report, you still received the service from the postal service. You could try denying the charge, but I can't see how that would work. And what about all the ones that reimburse for only a dollar? Do you use your credit card for them, or do you have a threshold?

I haven't seen any in a few weeks from the MSC which has done them for a few years. What I saw in September looked like left-overs.

Yeah, ok. I can see it now.

4:46 AM - Cop - "What are you doing?"
PO Employee - "I'm delivering groceries."
Cop - "You are wearing a USPS uniform."
PO Employee - "Yes, Sir. We are branching out now."
Cop - "At "4:46am? Did the people at this house request groceries to be delivered at this time of the morning?"
PO Employee - "Yes Sir. Here's the paperwork."
Cop - "Put the bag down and put your hands on top of your head."

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut

The guidelines say: "It is preferred that you use cash for your purchase". but it is not a requirement. I have used my debit card without any problems.
In regards to buying box at Staples here it exceeds the allowed for a box. Walmart is under but often the receipt does nOT state the size.
add the dimensions yourself to the receipt.
Problem solved.

My Walmart receipts show the dimensions. 14x14x14 box is $.68 plus tax. Just have to keep a supply on hand because at certain points the snowbirds buy them all to help them move home! I haven't seen the new post office shops posted on job board for October yet. I have 20 packages of books to send to my granddaughter's school in Colorado as soon as they hit. Wrote to scheduler this morning telling him I left holes in my calendar as a hint. Lol

The receipt with the box dimensions is so that if the postal worker measures the box wrong, it can be proven that it is the correct size.

DSpeakes, I have submitted a photo of the box dimensions on the box, rather than on the receipt. My Walmart had started carrying another brand and were out of the one I normally bought, and the box dimensions didn't show on the receipt. It just said "Brand medium shipping box." The box did have the dimensions on it, so I submitted that too, and didn't have any issues.

The receipt did show that long stream of numbers that I guess is for Walmart's coding system, so if they really wanted/needed to, they could call and confirm that the item bought was indeed the correct-sized box.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
the best thing to do is to combine this with the
staples/office depot/office max shops that happen
every month. You can buy whatever you want so
you buy the boxes at get reimbursed for them on that
shop then turn around and use them for this shop...
Double win!

You get reimbursed for the boxes for the postal shops anyway. It'd make no sense to receive reimbursement twice, as only one could be considered a reimbursed business expense, since we can't double-dip on taxes. The other would be taxable income.

Bbird you are joking right? You effectively increase
your pay per a shop doing this. That's like saying
I wont take a bonus on a shop because that increase
my taxable income.

I do shops that require a ferry to get to. Each msc pays
for the ferry cost in full but I only pay for it once since
I time the shops to be done the same day. Should I
not do that because that increases my income?

No, not joking. I do it all of the time for restaurant and hotel shops, when I'm traveling for work/meeting with a client. The thing is, even though I'm getting reimbursed from two different sources (MSC and my company) only one is considered a reimbursement, the other is taxable income.

I'm not saying don't do it. I'm just saying they're not both reimbursements, tax-wise.

If the shops were all about getting chicks for your flock. I'm here to to tell you my local PO, calls and gets it done. The chirping drives the postal workers nuts.

Besides the chirping, receiving dead chicks is a huge issue. We, who order chicks are over the top stinky. The birds cost a bloody fortune from the get go.

I will not get into how much it costs to raise a pullet to laying hen.

Live your life in such a way that when your feet hit the floor in the morning; the devil shudders...And yells OH #%*+! SHE'S AWAKE!
Oh, I can see it now. A lemon meringue pie delivers to the post office and then melts all over the counter smiling smiley
