Anyone get this 1000 cups of coffee email?

1000 Cups of Coffee (A Sneak Preview of Presto Insta-Shops)

If you got it and tried it out let us know if it is on the up and up. I don't really want to click on something new on my computer but I could use a thousand cups of coffee so if you clicked and it is safe and interesting let us know. I am not even sure which coffee shops it is so they may not be local.

I got it. It's for Presto Insta-Shops, tied to the PrestoMap and it is legit. If you do five projects, you get a $25 bonus too.

Plan the work. Work the plan.
the keyword is 5 projects, not 5 shops. So if you do 5 coffee
shops it only counts as 1 project...

you have to use it from your smartphone in order to do the
shops They only pay 2.50-3.50 each

I go to DD daily, so... the pay doesn't matter to me.

Jack From SASSIE here!

The 1000 Cups of Coffee project IS legit - it's our first project on our new Presto Insta-Shops platform.

We're paying for this project ourselves - so we're sorry that we can only cover the cost of your coffee, but once we get real customers we hope to repay many of you with a $25 bonus once you do four more projects (as techman01 pointed out, all of these coffee shops are considered one project).

Please bear with the site if it's a little slow - we totally didn't anticipate the interest in Presto Insta-Shops and we're frantically adding more server capacity to handle the load.

We're really trying to make Presto Insta-Shops a more shopper friendly service, one that's more convenient and pays much faster than usual. It's our hope that it'll make mystery shopping more worthwhile because you can grab a few Insta-Shops on the fly while you're out doing bigger shops.

If this sounds interesting to you, we hope you'll give us a chance (and let us know what you like or don't like about it)!

You can get more information at [insta.prestomobilesurveys.com]

Thanks,
Jack
I can't find the app for the cell phone. I can find the shops on my computer. There's a local one I could do tomorrow if it's still on the board (not worth driving to town in the dark for, especially not during the elk rutting season). But I can't find the app for my Android.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Just did my first Presto Insta-Shop for the green coffee chain. It was super easy. And YAY, me, now I'm a charter member. Woo hoo! Whatever that means. :-P It'll be great to get the $25 bonus down the road.

You'll have to have a smartphone (don't most of us by now?) or bring your laptop/tablet with you, because you can't fill out the survey until your cell phone/laptop/tablet detects that you are near the shop location.

When I clicked the button to "upload" the photo of my receipt, it brought up a choice of apps on my cell phone. I chose camera, snapped a quick photo, and then it uploaded that puppy.

Now I'm sipping on a (decaf!) Maple Latte as I'm typing this.

Not an app. I just used Chrome on my smartphone. It's a mobile version of a website. Does that make sense to you?
I received it also. You have to be near the location to complete the shop. You only have one hour to complete the report. That also includes doing the shop. So keep that in mind if your planning a route. You probably have at least one of the locations in your area. I do and I live in a very small town.
dspeakes - there actually isn't app to download! Just go to [prestomaps.com] on your Android phone (it does need to be Android 2.2.3 or later) and you should be good to go!

FYI: We didn't put any limit per location, so any number of shoppers can hit the same Starbucks (or whatever coffee chain) until the total limit of Starbucks shops gets filled. Please note: you can't do the same location more than once, but you can do up to 3 different Starbucks, 3 different Dunkin Donuts, etc ...
Jack, thanks for the coffee!!! :-D

I had not problems. My smartphone is about 2 1/2 years old, and everything is super slow on it, so I figured that was the reason the Presto Insta-Shop site was slow. All in all, it was super easy. This seems like a great way to pick up extra last-minute shops.
Ah, okay. I thought there was a cell phone app for it. I can do that. If it's still there tomorrow.

But I don't drink coffee. Do they have anything but coffee drinks there? Seems I went to one once and got some milk-based thingie that was all foamy with whipped cream. But I don't remember what it was.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I do gigwalks and other instant "shops" and they're done through an app.

Trying to change my phone settings so it will be ready tomorrow.

Unless there's 1000 shoppers running around all over the country tonight snapping them all up. smiling smiley

Per Jack's note, the location you're wanting to shop should be available because multiple shoppers can visit the same location. Also, if it's Starbucks (since Jack already mentioned the client, I feel it's okay for me to do the same), then yes, they have more than just coffee. I love their chai tea lattes! And if you're lactose-intolerant (like me), you can order your drinks with soy milk. The closest Starbucks to my house also has new soda drinks, hand crafted while you wait.

Nah, I'm probably the only weirdo who did that!
LisaKwaj,

Thank YOU! Our Presto team is over the moon by the response we're getting (hundreds of signups in the first hour - obviously not all of them are grabbing coffee shops).

One question we all have (because we sent this email out expecting it to be read tomorrow morning):

WHY ON EARTH are you guys all out drinking coffee so late on a Sunday night ???? winking smiley

-Jack
It's not an app...you have to go to prestomap.com on whatever internet browser you use.

I wasn't terribly impressed. There are quite a few shops listed near my area. I clicked on an automotive shop, and that just led me to Intellishop. There's also a valet shop listed for RBG. There was also an Arches shop listed for Sutter listed at $5. I didn't click on the details. The coffee shop looks super-easy, similar to what I've done with the Field Agent app. I don't drink coffee, but at $3.50, I'll probably pick up one or two when I'm out and surprise my mom with her favorite drink. I wouldn't drive out of my way to do it though.

Because I'm a sucker for "charter member"??? :-D Actually, I'm looking forward to earning that $25 bonus.

There's a movie theater shop for Confrero on my Presto Mobile map. It requires an alcohol compliance check, but I'm way too old (I hit the big five-oh next year). I'm wondering if they'd let me bring my son (who's 23) and have him order the drink??? We have done that for several restaurant shops, but not for a movie shop yet. Anyone have experience with this? I e-mailed the scheduler, but thought maybe one of you night owls might already know the answer.
Jack - sorry if this is mentioned somewhere and I missed it - is it reimbursement plus 3.50 or just the 3.50? Also, can I use a gift card since I already use one there everyday and reload it?

Thanks! This is awesome smiling smiley
LisaKwaj:

I think they typically DO allow that - but you'd have to check with the scheduler for your particular shop.

Best,
Jack

P.S. It's cool you found that SASSIE shop on Presto Map - we were definitely hoping that Presto would make it easier for shoppers to find SASSIE shops as well!
wow:

Sorry, the dollar figure is the total payment for the assignment - since we're paying for this project out of our own pockets, we're only able to cover the cost of the coffee itself.

Of course, if you use a gift card, or spend less than the dollar figure, you're totally welcome to pocket the difference.

Hot Tip: We didn't realize this, but (unbelievably) tomorrow is National Coffee Day and Dunkin Donuts is giving out free medium coffees of a particular roast [twitter.com]. If you can get a receipt (maybe buy a donut??!!?), we'll accept the shop and the money's all profit for you!
My question, JackatSASSIE, is that several shops are not insta shops but rather shops that you have to signup for and wait for an answer. Are you going to have it where there will be "wait for an answer" shops and also "insta" shops or just one or the other? Thank you!

p.s I like the growth you folks have made so far. It seems that it might be helpful when all the kinks are ironed out.

Just lost trying to find a fire pit in a concrete jungle wishing it was a wooded glen...

if it wasn't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all
gyspymonkey:

Thanks! We've been working on Presto Insta-Shops for the better part of a year and pilot projects like this one really force us to improve it by leaps and bounds.

To answer your question: On PrestoMap.com, the BLUE shops are Insta-Shops and ORANGE shops are regular SASSIE Mystery shops. If you want to only see Insta-Shops, just click on the round "P" logo!
And only the blue Insta-Shops count towards the $25 5-project bonus, right?

------------------------------------------------
Plan the work. Work the plan.
Yes, that's correct - only the blue Insta-Shops count towards the charter shopper 5 project bonus (and of course, there's only one Insta-Shop project on the system right now - our Coffee Project). We hope the success of the 1000 Cups of Coffee program will help us land more projects so you charter shoppers can get the other 4 projects done soon!
Thanks.

I like that you guys included the gas station locations in addition to the standalones. I prefer the gas station locations here.

------------------------------------------------
Plan the work. Work the plan.
If you go to Dunkin Donuts Today the 29'th, EVERYONE gets a free cup of medium "dark roast" as it's National coffee day promotion. Also use code 1bag or 2bag to get a pound of coffee for $5.99. I like the flavored coffee's and plan on getting 2 bags when they open today.

No need to do a shop. Save that shop location for tommorow, or get a second cup at the Starbucks across the street and do a comparison and report if DD burnt its new coffee to be as bad as Starbucks.

Edit: Read whole thread and see that Jack mentioned he'd cover the shop with free coffee.

EDIT2: I did Starbucks coffee & Dunkin Donuts free coffee and 3 donuts in the same hour. The coffee does show up and then is deducted on the receipt when you buy a donut. I'm wired now. spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Hey Jack, thanks for the quick responses. Do these have to be done in store or can you go through the drive thru?
