Why Are Reports Due Within 12 Hours?

MSC's have more to lose than we do. If they don't produce reports meeting standards and deadlines of their clients per their contracts, they're the ones who take a loss. Us? We can just not show up for the assignment and the worst that can happen to us is that we get banned from contracting with that MSC.

With many companies allowing their shoppers to self-assign and it being as easy to break in the industry by just signing up, an MSC can't really predict who's reliable and will produce quality reports and / or not flake last-minute.

I was told by a scheduler about shoppers waiting days when the company had a 24 hour deadline. I really don't understand how shortening it to 12 hours is going to make a difference. With the exception of Market Force, no MSC or scheduler has turned me down on next day submission unless it was one of those projects which was being submitted to clients immediately.

For some ongoing audits the client and MSC prefers the data actually be entered immediately but will accept it done later in the day when internet is a problem. Unlike a mystery shop which needs editing and proofreading, the data is immediately accessible by the client so the sooner the better.

I dislike the 12-hour turnaround on fine dining shops. We've had a nice dinner, 1 or 2 drinks, get home at 10-11 PM, totally mellowed out (and in my case, usually sleepy from the wine). Who wants to sit down for 1.5 - 2 hours and write a well narrated report? I do it because I love the shops this MSC offers, but some nights it is really tough! And I worry that I will fail to report a pertinent fact.
The shortest reporting time I have had is four hours. I received a call from a scheduler asking if I was available the same day to do the shop. The other shopper had flaked and the client needed the report ASAP. She offered a nice bonus and I just happened to be available, so I did the shop and had the report done within an hour of getting home. Since then, the scheduler calls or emails me first when a shop comes up in my area that I may be interested in.

I must still be a newbie, as it takes me 3+ hours to write a detailed narrative.
