Arrrggghhh! I just did the most boneheaded thing!

I shopped the wrong location! What would you do? I don't have time to go back and redo it tonight. It's too far. And I'm leaving tomorrow for Orlando for a few days. The earliest I could redo the shop for them would be Tuesday. I can't believe this. Sometimes I really hate NJ. Too many malls within close proximity to each other and they all have the same stores. I did two shops tonight. Both at the wrong location. Ugh

Depending on what time zone the MSC is in, l would either call or email the scheduler or both.

The rainy season ends Saturday, so great planning!

I intend to live forever. So far, so good.

You don't have the corner on doing boneheaded things, Heather. We've all pulled some lousy moves at one time or another. I agree with stilllearning. Let your scheduler know what happened, apologize and enjoy your long weekend in Orlando!
I emailed her. Haven't heard back yet. I did offer to do it gratis on Tuesday if that is not too late for them. Otherwise hopefully they can give it to another shopper to complete by their deadline.
I know some malls have more than one of the same store. I went to do an audit at a cellphone store in a mall and luckily I had a person's name to ask for because I went into the *store* and I needed to audit the *kiosk*. They were about 75 yards apart.

Another time there was a bank on the corner and I was supposed to shop the branch that was behind it inside a grocery store; they shared a parking lot. Of course I did the bank I could see. I hadn't noticed the name of the store in the shop instructions. Their physical addresses were 2 numbers different -- 703 for the bank and 705 for the store.

So it happens. But always, always, check your address. (It didn't help me, since my Garmin delivered up the same driveway for both banks.)

Sorry you missed both shops. All you can do is call and offer to re-do next week. You'll never make this mistake again, so don't beat yourself up too badly over it.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I think we all do things like that. sad smiley

Me? I did ONE..and I mean ONE boneheaded thing so far.

Drove 80 miles for a drive in. Came home and started reporting it when I saw....time it took to reach the speaker.

OMG!!!!!!!!! I did the wrong kind of shop. It was a drive thru!

I drove back that 80 miles and redid it because I could.

The fact that you're concerned, and have communicated with the MSC, attempting to right a wrong says lots. We're human, not perfect. If you have some history, your body of work will speak for itself. Hoping for a positive outcome!
They were totally cool about it. I'm doing it today. It's a purchase/return so I've already done the purchase and now I'm off to do the return. smiling smiley
I did a dine in shop instead of a take out. I submitted it and was honest. I suffered a $2 deduction but otherwise got paid

I did these same things on two occasions. When I was brand spanking new to MSing, I shopped the wrong credit union, less than a block apart.

There was one Sonic shop I was supposed to do the drive-thru and did the drive-in.

Don't beat yourself up, it happens!!
Oooh, you are definitely not the first and unfortunately, won't be the last.

Apparently when I signed up for this particular shop, I either mis-clicked (selected the wrong one) or just mis-read the address. It was scheduled just over a week in advance. The whole time I thought I had requested the location by my house and I never bothered to look at it, I just put it on my calendar.

It had to be done between very specific hours, so when I sat down to enter the report and I got to that infamous -- seemingly ridiculous -- question, "Did you go to the location at XXXXXXX address?" I just stared at the screen, dumbfounded. - and there was no chance of shopping the correct location due to the time limits.

I contacted the MSC and there were additional days available which I could have selected, so she rescheduled it for two days later. Obviously my time and money was wasted on the first shop, but I was SO glad to have an opportunity to redeem myself, I didn't mind at all.

The craziest part was when the scheduler said she lives in my town and did a similar thing recently with a prescription she had to pick up. What are the odds?!

I walked away from this a much more humble shopper. I never thought I was capable of this particular mistake and I laughed at the endless reminders to shop the correct location. Yeah ... I don't do that any more.

I did a dine-in at Raising Cane's when I was supposed to do drive-thru. Just this week I took a Panda Express shop that was drive-thru thinking it was dine-in, but cancelled it immediately when I realized my mistake (hate to do that, but I really don't like doing drive-thru at PX).
Good for you, OP! I have made such a mistake. And because some MSCs have made their own mistakes and we put up with them, or they are naturally good hearted, they will normally make allowances. I understand it would cost them more to reassign. If you have a good record and good relationship with the MSC, it won't hurt to ask for a redo. It depends on the shop though.

I went to a shop, travelled by bus more than 2 hours as a favour, and there were two of them. No specific direction from the
log. Both kiosks in a mall under the same name. No telephone# or specific site in the mall. To play safe, I did both. It was a weekend and no reply from the scheduler. I decided to report on one location and wrote a note to the editor regarding the two locations. Received a reply after the weekend and lucky for me, my report was for the right shop. I was too frustrated.

An erroneous location due to ambiguous directions is the MSC's fault. Not that they all see it that way, but two kiosks in a mall under the same name, with no identifying information to distinguish them, is a recipe for MS disaster.
After my report, the scheduler responded after the weekend and gave me the names of the stores around it. Funny thing was they were located in the same corridor. But the nearest store to the kiosk was mentioned and it was the one I reported on. It is frustrating to depend on luck to maintain a good record. If I were wrong, I either would have had a late report or have had to actually report on two shops for the price of one measly fee.
I have found that it is best to be honest and own up to your mistakes. I once shopped a location at the wrong time and when I discovered my mistake, I immediately emailed the scheduler and offered to redo the shop the next day. She was really cool about it and was happy to reschedule. The last thing a scheduler wants to do is cancel a shop because they have to go to the trouble of finding another shopper, etc.

I shopped the wrong target before. Husband and wife were both property managers there... I shopped Eric and not Erica.

Once I realized, I fully expected it to be rejected. My saving grace was that Erica had taken on floater responsibilities at two of their other properties a few days before my first phone call, and wouldn't have been there anyway.

I did not know that at the time, and only found out once my shop was sent for client review, and it did not come back right away as a rejection.

My most bone-headed MS thing was flaking on a shop after performing it. I did, I think, 6-7 shops that day, reported them, but somehow forgot one. Did not realize until I got the overdue email. I scrambled to report it... had to do it from my phone since I was at work. It was accepted but I still kick myself over it.

I have done that once. Now I check Bing maps to be sure I know where I am going. How about a restaurant shop where you order the wrong thing. $35 down the drain...........We grow by our mistakes and grow into veteran shoppers.
