Embarassing Reveal

The other day I did my first Medicare formal sales presentation reveal. When I got there the salesperson is standing outside the room welcoming people. She spies me and calls me by name...it was a neighbor!

I don't know the woman well, and would probably have made it through the whole presentation without making the connection if she hadn't said something. I pulled out the authorization letter, told her what I was up to, and asked if she'd feel uncomfortable having me there. She was fine with it, so things went on as planned. Fortunately, she did an EXCELLENT job, so I don't have to worry about any awkward conversations down the line.

Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I haven't had your experience. If I knew someone while I was on a shop, I would not do the shop. I would tell the scheduler.
I would have bailed out and called my scheduler. Being concerned about awkward conversations down the line could too easily compromise objectivity.
If it had been a mystery shop I would have turned around and walked out. I only asked her since it was a reveal and I barely know the woman. When I got home I emailed the scheduler to explain the situation (before I spent time on the report) and got his OK.

I've only been shopping for a few months, and this is the second time I've run into an acquaintance who's working at the shop. I think it's funny because in real life I NEVER see people I know!
