WHY can't you disclose the MSC and Client?

Sure, but there's nothing wrong to referring to what a MSC has already chosen to make public in this manner.

You may be right. Or not. It's not an issue for me because I'm not going to do it. The question was whether it violates forum policy. I think if it links the company and the client, we shouldn't make that information available on the forum, according to my interpretation of the rules of the forum. Again, I may be wrong. Or not. I am not affected by whatever may be the correct answer, because I won't do it.

I guess I'll see if the moderators of the forum agree with you. If one of them finds that posting a link to the homepage of a wildly popular mystery shop provider is a violation of the rules, I'm sure they'll edit my post.

I understand your point that it's best to practice caution, but I can't see any reason to object to posting a link to a MSC's front page. In fact the forum already provides such a link under the MSC directory. And more to the intent of the forum rules, there is absolutely nothing in my ICA with ACL that forbids me from directing someone to their homepage. In all circumstances, I'm sure they'd be thrilled someone was doing that for free.

I think the question was, why is it policy.

It seems to me that everyone understands the policy and willing agree to follow it.

Interesting post and fun to follow.

Personally, I would never sell or buy drugs at the water cooler but if I thought it could help me I'd lurk and listen.
Elynbeth is disclosing the clients by posting the link and telling us it discloses the clients.

I can't say why there's a rule that we shouldn't disclose the client/company relationships on the forum. The question about why there is such a rule on the forum can only be answered by forum ownership. If anyone wants to post the relationships perhaps it would be courteous to post them elsewhere rather than here.

Well like I said, I don't see any issue when it comes to intent of the rules with simply linking to a MSC homepage when the forum already does that. I do respect your view on this matter though and I also try to err on the side of caution in these things.

That said, have the posting guidelines disappeared? It's been a while since I read them and I seem to remember them being in an easy to find place before but now can't find them for the life of me.
Saacman, I saw those rules earlier today. I don't know what happened to them. I've looked at the bottom of the page on several sections in the forum and haven't found them.

I am hoping maybe one of the schedulers who are working closer with the MSC's can pipe in and offer some insight.

The Posting Guidelines only appear when you click in the 'reply' box on a thread, or are making a new post. They just suddenly appear right underneath where you're typing. smiling smiley

There's also some more generalized guidelines on the front page of the forum, just under each forum section heading (or whatever you want to call those).

It's all about the rules. I like mystery shopping because it has rules.

Anyone who feels the need to break the rules... Please do so, because I'm going to scoop up your shops. I'm going to conduct them properly and if I have anything to do with it, they will always be mine.

Thanks for making my life easier. I was just assigned four shops from this company just by clicking on your link. No hunting and pecking. I wonder if they are in your area. Thanks again for making my checking account fatter.
If you haven't been clever enough to look at the front page of shop company websites to learn about the companies before, I'm glad to have helped you out. You're welcome and enjoy those reimbursement only shops smiling smiley
Personally my interpretation is that using both the company name and client name in the same thread violates the forum rules. Giving information that directs someone to the home page of an MSC does not. Therefore, if an MSC chooses to provide that information on their home page or facebook page or wherever, that is their business and I am not breaking any agreements if I suggest someone check out those pages. Just my personal opinion.
It would be nice to hear from Jacob as to what he intended that forum rule to include.
