Can't make this stuff up sometimes

Email I received from an msc alittle while ago...

"Welcome to the new Mystery Shopper Apparel Store

This is not a mystery shop, it is an introduction to our new online apparel
store for mystery shoppers. We offer a wide range of clothing with our
company logo on it for you to purchase in order to let your friends and the
people you encounter know that you are a mystery shopper. When wearing
these items in public to go shopping you can expect extra special treatment
from stores and restaurants personnel you encounter. You may get special
treatment because they think that you're mystery shopping them. I have
personally been in restaurants while wearing this clothing where the help
was falling all over us, giving us special treatment with free desserts and
drinks as well. The items we have received over time have paid for the
shirt itself.

You may be asked questions like: Are you mystery shopping us? What can I
get for you? How can I become a mystery shopper? etc...

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The only thing we ask is that you do NOT actually wear
these items when you’re really are mystery shopping for someone. The point
of mystery shopping is to go unnoticed and not be the focus of attention."

Techman, even though I'm still a little ticked at you for getting us spanked for the last thread you started about the turkey, you have peaked my interest and I'm willing to take a chance. Where's the link? I mean this "online apparel" sounds like it might be the perfect solution to those on our gift list "who have everything". smiling smiley

That's how techman rolls.

Maybe this email didn't get sent on April Fool's Day?

If it is a late April Fool's, it is elaborate, the polo shirts go for $24.95 or so. What an absolutely bizarre concept. In fact, that idea needs to be taken out behind the barn and shotwinking smiley

My thoughts exactly. Although I also like the one about needing to kill this idea.

Any chance this company was Freeman?

Just out of curiosity I checked one of the most popular sites for personalized items and look what I found:

I got the email too, and couldn't believe it. Checked the web store they put up, and kept shaking my head wrong wrong wrong.

This makes no sense. If the store was being shopped, why would they violate the stores policies and give away merchandise, or give free deserts if they thought you were the shopper?

They would want to follow corporate policy 100% and give you an accurate bill, unless of course they already gave you bad service and needed to have the manager comp. something.
