Oh the unexpected problems with super cheap gas!

There are typically trash cans near the pumps. Just pump the extra in there. If someone ignores the no smoking sign they will learn a valuable lesson.

And what happens to the employee changing out the bags when it breaks?

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

What does smoking have to do with anything? If a bag breaks the gasoline goes all over them and the ground. If I'm the next customer I'm stepping in a puddle of gas and getting it all over my shoes and then my car.

Smoking around gasoline will generally cause a fire.

If you are actually taking me seriously about pumping gas into a trash can just to get maximum reimbursement, I apologize.
A cell phone can also cause a fire around gasoline.

This is actually in violation of their Merchant Account agreement with the credit card processor. You can not tack on surcharges or institute minimum purchases for credit card sales (at least not overtly - you can give a cash "discount"winking smiley.

I do several types of gas shops. Only one allows a $5 gas reimbursement. But according to the MSC, you don't have to pump the full $5. That is just the max they will reimburse you. Of course, I don't know which shop you may be doing, but rather than wish for lower reimbursement, just check with your MSC as to whether you actually must pump the full $5 or not.

By the way, we are still at $2.49 a gallon out here and prices have started climbing again. So I don't know how much longer we will see the benefit of the lower prices.

Merchants can impose a minimum credit card purchase as long as it doesn't exceed $10. It doesn't apply to debit cards.
