Faked You Out!

One of the things those of us who do rural routes know is where the good restrooms are. That came in handy today. The area in question had a Chevron, a Union 76 and a Pilot. The Chevron meets corporate's standards but definitely not mine. The Union 76, which is owned by the same family as the Chevron across the street, is constantly having septic issues and you can smell that place a mile away, something I have had to put into report after report. The Pilot is new and modern and almost always very clean. Thus when nature called while out in the middle of nowhere today, Pilot was my first choice.

I have shopped the Pilot for several companies as they have a Cinnabon and Subway inside besides for the regular coffee and deli shops for you-know-who. Had a Cinnabon or Subways shop been available, I would have done it while out there. Thankfully, it was too late for the coffee shop and I really can't stomach the deli shops unless they are very well bonused. So my plan was to use the restooom, buy a pack of gum, and leave.

Once I got inside I ran right smack into a coffee hostess that I must have given poor marks to as she remembered me. She immediately told the Cinnabon employee, "We got a shopper here" and looks in my direction. Well, I considered two different paths to deal with her. Ultimately, I used the restroom and left without buying anything.

Busted! And in a rural area (small location); that's the worst, for sure...

Somewhere in the Midwest, shopping / auditing full time since 2014. Will use PV-500 for food! smiling smiley
I think you played it right. Use the restroom and buy nothing. That had to throw her a curve ball and she may doubt what she remembered.

.
Have PV-500 & willing to travel.

Starbucks in NYC is pretty good.

There used to be an actual website with all listings of free, accessible, NYC restrooms!!!
Forgot the name of it, but when you needed it, you were glad it existed!!! Others laughed at it...
When I'm on a trip, I look for home improvement stores usually close to an exit. The stores open early and the restrooms are nice.

Some of the restrooms we used in NYC were beyond gross, but when you gotta go, you gotta go :-)

I had that happen one time at a tanning booth. The employee pulled her jacket back so I was able to see her name tag. I don't think she was flirting with a 70 year old female so my guess she thought I was a shopper. I have not gone back.
I agree when it comes to Lowes. But I've done a couple of Home Depot's where the restrooms were a disaster. I mean they don't have the supplies and talent to fix broken locks, screw toilet paper holders back into place or unclog toilets? Or how about just using a container of 409 or a bottle of bleach? They sell both. On a non-shop I sent an email to corporate and asked them just that.
There is a public restroom in Bryant Park behind the library on 42 St. It is monitored and cleaned and immaculate. Back in the 70s it was a dangerous place, I think they called it Needle Park
