PayQuicker

FYI

Last fall, PayQuicker decided to charge a $5 Dormant Fee. Ace will not reimburse.

Cancelling a PayQuicker account is not easy. Cancelling involves calling the company, sending an email, or chatting online.

Seriously? I have only used this for one company that I rarely shop for. I have no interest in paying a $5 dormant fee!
I agree. Why any company uses PayQuicker rather than the industry standard, PayPal, is beyond me. Now they are assessing a penalty for not shopping for the one company I know of that uses them is utterly ridiculous. They must be having cash flow issues if they have to stoop to this ...

Because of this PQ, I no longer shop for Ace. tongue sticking out smiley
If you transfer all the funds from Payquicker when you are paid and then do not have any further funding, you will not be charged a fee. They will simply close the account. If you don't do a single job for Ace every 6 months, then the account will be closed.

Inactive Accounts
If you have not initiated an instruction through your Account for a purchase from or a deposit to your Account for six (6) months, your Account may be classified as inactive by us. Subject to applicable law, we may charge an inactivity Fee on the Account for each month that the dormancy continues thereafter. The Fee will be discontinued when transactions resume or the balance of the account has reached zero, at which time the Account will be closed.
This is interesting and I have never received any notice about this. I guess it's on the website. Another headache. Ace has no more work around my area! sad smiley
I think it is time for ACE to get off the PQ Train. Sounds like they are losing shoppers and clients.
No, they don't notify you until after they take the money -- if you notice it and ask about it. If you don't ask, they don't tell.

I somehow failed to transfer my last $15 payment from Ace last year. Not sure how that happened, since I always sweep the account as soon as I get the payment notice. I can only guess I failed to click a "confirm" button, or had an internet problem or got distracted in the middle of it because in my mind, I had done it so I never looked again. I didn't discover it until I was reconciling my shopping information with my Quicken account for tax purposes and could not find where that $15 had ever showed up in a bank account. When I looked into it, only $5 was left. They had taken two $5 "dormant account fees" without bothering to tell me about it.

They did refund one of them when I protested, but refused to refund the other.

They did send me an email when they refunded the $5, but never sent me any emails when they took them out to start with.

I find the company dishonorable for not notifying the account holder at 5 months that "your account is about to go dormant, blah blah, and we will start stealing your money if you don't take action now." Or even telling you "your account has been charged a $5 dormancy fee, blah blah" after taking the first fee.

I'm not even sure it's legal for them to do this without attempting to contact the account holder.

I told Ace I will not shop for them ever again if they don't give an option other than Payquicker. I was told the owner of Ace was "negotiating" with Payquicker over it but apparently they got nowhere.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
PayQuicker has always charged a dormant fee. Although I LOVED working for ACE, I have been unable to accept any assignments since they decided to use PayQuicker exclusively, with no other options for payment.

Initially, I did not sign up with PayQuicker because it was "unproven," with no track record and no one I knew who could give me any feedback. AND I didn't like the idea of providing more information to them than I had to provide to PayPal (like drivers licenser!). And also - their website said that if an account was inactive for 90 days there would be a $5 inactivity charge. Since I only worked for them every 90 days or so ..... it didn't seem worth it.

Now I see a track record and PayQuicker appears to be working okay. I would have considered it EXCEPT that a review of the website shows they still charge an inactivity fee.

LOVE ACE and I would start accepting ACE assignments again in a hearbeat ..... but not without an alternative payment method. No PayQuicker for me.

I agree, Austin Mom. I've enjoyed the people I've talked to and e-mailed at ACE. I find them easy to work with and they like a good laugh as much as I do. When they went to PayQuicker, I decided it was time to stop shopping with them. PayPal and direct deposit are industry standards. PayQuicker isn't. All I can think is PayQuicker must save ACE a buck on every transaction, but their need for information is too invasive for me. I won't even go to the ACE board as long as they stay with PayQuicker.

is this a newer thing for ACE...I never even heard of payquicker

i think i did some shops for them a few years ago..but not recently....it was a food shop...and I just couldn't stomach the food anymore!

@AustinMom, "PayQuicker has always charged a dormant fee. Although I LOVED working for ACE, I have been unable to accept any assignments since they decided to use PayQuicker exclusively, with no other options for payment."

Untrue. They implemented the dormant fee last October.

Cancelling a PayQuicker account was easier than I thought. I sent an email to cancel, a few days later they sent a confirmation.

The mystery shopping company is working to fix the situation.

The problem is PayQuicker's attempt to GOUGE consumers. Frankly, I would rather Ace kept my teeny little payment rather than give it to sneaky, rotten, cheap, underhanded...

Yep, I'm pissed off, and I had to investigate to even find out the details. You forum members have to get on the stick. I don't have time for this. smiling smiley
May I ask for the email address you used to contact PayQuicker to cancel your account? Thanks. smiling smiley
Melanie they may have dropped the fee and reinstated, but I guarantee it was listed as one of their fees when ACE first switched and PQ was very new. It was one of the many reasons I was not interested at that point.

Yes, the $5 dormant fee was definitely listed in PayQuicker's terms in September 2011 when ACE started to use them.
So I have done two shops for Ace in Jan of this year so I'll get the money through PayQuicker? But I haven't signed up for PayQuicker. So am I screwed? Or just tattooed?
If it still works the way it did in September 2011 when ACE first went suddenly (without prior notification to their shoppers) to PayQuicker, you will get an e-mail notice when the money is ready to pay saying that PayQuicker has money for you and giving you a link to sign up with PayQuicker.

In September 2011, I had shopped for a couple of years for ACE and I had just performed two shops believing that I would receive a paper check as always. I read on the forum about the upcoming change instead of receiving notice from ACE. By the time I read it on the forum, I had already performed both September ACE shops. I waited, believing I might still receive a paper check since I had not agreed to the new ICA (which told shoppers payment would be by PayQuicker) at the time I performed the shops. After receiving the notice from PayQuicker, I noted that not only did the e-mail tell me I must sign up with PayQuicker in order to get paid, the e-mail noted an incorrect amount for my payment. I immediately contacted Tiffany at ACE, who verified that the amount was incorrect, apologized, and quickly corrected the error. She graciously agreed to cancel the PayQuicker transaction and pay me with a paper check, agreeing that our agreement at the time I performed the shops was that I would be paid with a paper check.

For the next couple of months, ACE did work with shoppers who performed shops unaware that the only method of payment was PayQuicker. Several shoppers that I know of were paid with paper checks, even some who signed up with ACE AFTER they had implemented the ICA that required new shoppers to agree to be paid by PayQuicker. The ACE team is made up of a bunch of very, very nice folks. It makes me sad that they are tied in with PayQuicker.
Wow, so glad to see this thread. I only did a few shops for them and since then there have not been any shops in my area. So I guess I will have a dormant account fee at no fault of my own.

From my understanding, you take your money out as soon as possible after it arrives in the account. Myself if it happens to me I think I will complain to one of the TV stations. But that is probably a moot point.
My last deposit to PQ was the end of November. If I don't accept any more shops from Ace, it will be automatically closed down.

They are a good company, especially Erika, but....wish they would do a paypal instead or direct deposit. sad smiley
I agree, Canuck. Erika is a true gem, but PayQuicker is a loser and she is unfortunately affiliated with the loser.
I don't understand the PayQuicker hate? I get a payment. I transfer the payment to my checking account. It's there in 2 or 3 days. I don't have any problems with them.

At this point I don't think anyone is hating on the service. With only one MSC using them exclusively and a couple of others offering it as one of several options many of us would be subject to dormancy fees or closed accounts which have to be reopened. I receive PayPal payment weekly. At most I would receive fewer payment for PQ in an entire year than I do from PP in a single month. Someone who has the opportunity to work with ACE or Clear Evaluations with any regularity might not have those issues.

PayQuicker is also now charging a .50 monthly fee. Started in December. Check your statements.

I say boo! tongue sticking out smiley
I have not been charged any monthly fees, and have so far avoided any maintenance fees. Going forward, I will immediately move every penny from Pay Quicker into my bank account. I will cease doing shops for ACE before I pay a $5 dormant account fee to Pay Quicker.

I do move most money from the account upon receipt only leaving $1-3, to keep it open. I looked at my statements after reading this thread and discovered I am being charged .50 per month.
