new car shops, not fancy brands

My daughter is graduating college and moving to Colorado. She needs a car. I have a Suburu. I have never seen Suburu shopped. Any other suggestions and have you seen shops listed? I figure I'll kill 2 stones with one bird.

By the way, I get Shop smart magazine which is published by Consumer Reports and they often mention their mystery shoppers. I take all that info with a grain of salt. Along with all the JD Power awards, etc.

I've done dozens of new-car shops and if you're interested in cars, MS is a good way to get to know the market. If I was actually shopping for a $20K car, however, I would not let the requirements of a $20 shop distract me from concentrating on my personal preferences and getting the best deal.

No fee, no shop.
Just pay attention to the shop requirements. Most of the car shops I've seen require you to be the sole decision maker, which would prohibit you from taking your daughter with you.
