Waiting for approval or decline.

I've been doing this long enough that most of my shops are self-assign. However, I am waiting authorization of two hotel shops I requested. How long to I wait? One request is for next Saturday. I'm missing opportunities to pick up other shops in the area but I don't want to sign up for them if I'm not going to get the nights stay. Any suggestions?

Email the scheduler, explain the situation, and ask for a reply by [deadline of your choice, but be specific] or you must refuse the assignment.

Without posting the company, it's hard to know if the schedulers prefer to be contacted by phone or email.

Like any other shop, if they leave you in limbo and another paying opportunity comes up, try to contact the scheduler and if they are unreachable or do not respond within 24 hours, withdraw your application. I would not turn down guaranteed work for a shop that is pending.
Yes, something like the saying, "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." I would not wait, unless I have nothing else to do. They are usually considering only their end.

I once waited and I got tired and cancelled my application. Lo and behold, I found the shop on my log when I least expected it and I was no longer available. I stupidly did it to protect my record but sacrificed a shop which I really wanted to do. But no more! That's the beauty of being an independent contractor. We have a choice.
A scheduler informed me that if a request is more than a week or two out, depending on the shop, they ignore it initially. Afterthat they easily loose track. They prefer to get someone assigned as early as possible, easier to reassign the shop if necessary.

Log into Intellishop and look for the My Apps icon at the top of the page. Look for the shop there, and click "Delete my application" or however it's worded.
Thanks everyone. I got assigned one for next week but I had to decline. I don' t meet the qualifications. She was super nice.
I was in a similar situation with one shop, but it turns out the scheduler was just off for a couple of days. She apologized, thanked me for my patience, and ultimately scheduled me for the shop. I really hope they have more of these. (I believe it was a pilot program initially)

The chain isn't exactly known for having fancy hotels, but the shop was relatively simple (not too much narrative, for a hospitality shop).

Somewhere in the Midwest, shopping / auditing full time since 2014. Will use PV-500 for food! smiling smiley
