I'm still scratching my head . . . .

I'm still scratching my head as to why I accepted a $14.00 auto shop from XXXXX. I inquired about being able to get an oil change on my VW and the scheduler talked me into this shop. He stated that if I perform three of these low paying shops, I will be offered higher paying shops and retail shops. What say you?

I'd say he wouldn't be able to do that.

Thanks for the good advice. I did tell the guy that I have never performed an auto shop under $25.00. Last year, my very first auto shop (as a novice) paid $39.00 through I.S. I had better learn to put on my bargaining hat.
I'm just curious if he led you to believe you would get an oil change shop if you did some new car shops. What's he planning on doing, referring you to another MSC???

Well, I don't work with BestMark so I can't speak to his veracity. But from what I've heard and read about BestMark, they are pretty well-liked and a respectable company, so I wouldn't have any reason to disbelieve what this scheduler told you. Is this $14 for the oil change a flat fee, or does it pay $14 on top of the oil change reimbursement? I have done oil change shops for Confero for years, and often the reimbursement is the only pay, but I don't care. The report is easy, and I haven't paid for an oil change for me or Honey's car since 2009.
I've never been fortunate enough to pick up an oil change shop. I've only performed new car shops. He didn't lead me to believe I would get an oil change shop if I did three lower paying new car shops, but he said I would receive higher paying shops and retail shops. Fortunately for me ( or unfortunately) I have the Norwalk virus and had to cancel. If it counts against me, oh well. I wish I could find an oil change shop for a VW.
You'd be better off doing the oil change shops for Ace. Much better pay, and report is easy.
Do not work for them anymore for your exact reasons. Same scenario for me! Just not worth the time!

IIRC, the oil change shops for BestMark are brand specific...and VW isn't the brand.

My 1st ever shop was with Bestmark. That was a couple of years ago. I did nothing but auto sales. Yes the $14 is about what they pay for them. I then found other companies that pay a little more. Bestmark does have other auto sales shops that pay $20 for higher priced cars.

As far as their service shops.....they do reimburse for an oil change and/or tire rotation which can only be performed on certain model cars. The pay for the shop is usually $20 and up depending on where and need. Some obviously pay more. The reimbursement is about $45 on top of the fee to do it. I think its worth it to do the service shops as they do reimburse for the service if you have the model car/year/mileage.

Lately, being that I have done the sales shops for Bestmark numerous times, I have branched out to other companies to do auto sales shops. Bestmark does also provide from time to time web sales shops and phone sales which pay $3 and $5 respectively but are easy. I prefer web as they are easier to me and more comfortable but they get snatched up quick.

Hope it helps

I asked about this and the scheduler said the only oil change shop I can take my VW to is [store name deleted], but there are none available now.

Mod note - The MSC has already been named so please do not name their client. Thanks.
Lorrie, please edit your post to remove the client name as that is a violation of both the forum rules and your ICA with Bestmark [and most other MSCs]. A post can name either the MSC or the Client, but not both and, as you mentioned Bestmark in your initial post, no cleints can be mentioned.

I recently was assigned an oil change shop just in the nick of time. The shop fee was only $5, but the shop reimbursed up to $40 so I was happy with that!
After reading the thread's title, I was all set to recommend Heads and Shoulders shampoo and conditioner to the OP. Then I opened the thread. Oh well.
I say he made you some promises, but can he back them up?

I also say: He said if you take those low paying shops (that nobody wants) he will give you higher paying ones later.... Yeah sure! Not...tongue sticking out smiley
