Red Rover Red Rover I see you

For those of us that work with the Sassie Rover app, I have learned something interesting when the app decided it wanted to glitch. It was during a certain audit and I was waiting for the help desk to come to my aid. Since it took longer then anticipated, I had to move everything over to the Sassie site and was dreading it. I dusted off my tech cap from 2004 and began dissecting my tablet that had my rover app.
Tip 1 - most devices have a log of everything you have ever downloaded stored somewhere. If there is an issue and you have to uninstall to re-install than that is great as a backup of the original non-corrupt file.

Tip 2 - tethering your tablet to your computer is a way to not only transfer your files but also to view the files. There is a folder on the tablet called fastfieldsassie and it can be found in the Internal Storage. This is where your audits are stored. So ANY pictures that you take will be stored. Even if you deleted the photo off the rover app while doing the audit, a copy is still in this folder. Why is this good? You can take multiple pictures of problem areas and only upload one. When the editor says they need more pictures or better pictures, look in this folder for the pictures of that audit. You will find them all there! The trick however is to take the picture --> click the check mark --> then click on the picture --> then the word 'camera' --> take new picture. repeat until you are happy that you covered the issue.

With minimal tweaking, this app will be awesome. I love that I don't have so much work to do after the audit is complete. I wish all msc's would head toward apps. I mean with a good shop it's in and out. With a shop that has minimal issues, it is still quick. It really is a time saver!

if it wasn't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all

It sounds like you are describing the Rover app via an Android tablet/device. Yes? I say this, because I use the app on an iPad and those steps are not the same on an iPad. But still good information!
@purpleicee yes this is for android tablet or phone. I assume that you would still be able to see Rovers belly while tossing an apple.

on more thing Do Not change the name of the files in the fastfieldsassie folder. just tether together, view files, copy files, upload files but do not change the file names. I have a folder on my laptop for these completed audits. It's my backup should anything occur.

I must say I am impressed with how this app is turning out. It makes everything a lot easier. When shoppers actually use it, that means I can see who has done their shops and who flaked, making cancellations a lot more clear cut.

I agree. I love connecting to the Wi-Fi at the location and submitting the report as I walk out the door.
That makes the assignments more worthwhile... no report to complete when you get home!

No report later means less time on the with the shop which means more money in pocket. Also no report later means less stress on deadlines.

I think the app still needs a lot of refinement. I just don't think it's easy to look at. There are a lot of sub menus, a whole lot of clicking. Text gets cut off sometimes, cannot read the entire selection in some dropdown lists. I had a screenshot but can't find it right now. Crashes a lot. The other day it crashed 5 times on me on the signature field and this was after closing all apps and restarting my phone before starting. This was on iphone. Another time I was trying to open the app on my ipad and it wouldn't open and of course this was at the location when I was ready to start. I can't wait until it's finally good.
If the bugs are ever worked out this will be a great app. It crashes alot on my Andriod 4.4.2 tablet especaily when taking pics within the app. This happens on tablet and Andriod 4.4.2 phone.

I usually have to take photos outside the app and select them from the gallery within the app. All & all it does make the audit quicker than paper, which I had to use the first audit I done.

I have not had any crashes at all. Everything works smoothly on my iPad. Maybe because I connect to the free Wi-Fi at the store, even though we are told to shut everything off, other apps, Wi-Fi, etc. I don't shut anything off. My battery only goes down by about 35-40% by the time I am done with the audit. If I end up having problems in the future, I probably will disable other areas of my device. I have tested the speakers and soundbars with my bluetooth connection from my iPad and iPhone, too. But there were some software glitches that were there with question 2.3p. That photo would disappear at sync time and appear to the editor as missing. Also, before the MP3 section was added to Rover, the Rover version had the Microsoft Surface questions in that slot and the Sassie version had the MP3 questions at the identical area. This caused a major issue with the fields not populating correctly at sync time. These two areas have been corrected for April. However, the new test has some areas not worded correctly and the new guidelines versus the video have conflicting instructions. Someone who has never done one of these audits could get very frustrated. And I am tired of printing those guidelines @ 50+ pages!
I just wish they had a Windows version of the app. But it does keep getting better and better.

Somewhere in the Midwest, shopping / auditing full time since 2014. Will use PV-500 for food! smiling smiley
