Apology to the forum for some bad behavior.

1.

I have in the past placed animated GIF's in my signature line. I thought it was cute at the time and was toggled by some.
I know this offended many and have now removed my signature line completely.

There is now an option in your settings to not display the signature line of everyone, if you want to be all business and not want to take the time to read anyone's signature:

Click this link: [www.mysteryshopforum.com]

And tick the box "Do not show user signatures"

This will eliminate all signatures. I have chosen to do this as some signature lines are quite long and as distracting as my horrible animated GIF's were. One night I changed my signature to an eyeball late at night and deleted it in the sunlight.

2.

I have knowingly placed a photo of maggots in a thread about food contamination and flies when I was intoxicated late at night. I know this is no excuse, and I deserved to be toggled for that. I was moderated and promise to never post a shocking photo ever again.

3.

I have introduced the method to post BBCODE to the forum in the general thread and it is used mostly with character smilies by others and with proper discretion here: [www.mysteryshopforum.com]

I promise to use it sparingly and appropriately from this time forward.

If you have anything to roast me for, I have tough skin and welcome it in this thread. Go ahead and get it out of your system here and now. I know it will not be all roses and I will not retaliate or speak negatively of anyone who replies.

Mod note: Please leave this in the shopping discussion area for 24 hours, so everyone has a chance to see it before moving it to the Meta forum where it belongs and will likely not be read by most.

I have no problem with you at all. Some people are hypersensitive and fail to realize that not everyone thinks like them.
How do you know you've been toggled?

You answered my question so elegantly with your second sentence. I have seen replies that obviously did not see my reply that was above it. I will not mention any names.

@scanman1: IMO, the positivity you bring to the forum far outweighs any of these minor transgressions, if you can even characterize them as such, you list. Granted, drunk posting is never a good idea, but please keep doing what you're doing. I personally look forward to your posts.

But you didn't "like" my post! And it's too late to do it now. No pity "likes!"

You did learn to spinning smiley sticking its tongue out at me. This is not a pity thread. I was new to the forum then and thought my post that took quite a bit of effort was ignored. You see my BBCODE post smilies all over the forum now, so it was a success post as everyone who uses those smilies is giving me a "like" if they want to admit it or not.spinning smiley sticking its tongue outspinning smiley sticking its tongue out

No problems here - cheers. smileys with beer

I don't know what planet I've been on but I have been blissfully unaware of your transgressions. I do appreciate the link to stop the signature lines though, I find some of them quite distracting although there are two I love, can't remember the poster but it says 'there are two types of people, one who can extrapolate from incomplete data' and I love Lisa's 'if you have to ask if it's too early....' line.

I am on the same page with Sunny...
I am not here every day but I have never had a problem with you, I have always found you pleasant and as far as that photo in the thread I just skipped over it, I didn't even look (thank God now).

Thank you for this, scanman. I announced in the thread when I toggled you over the maggots but actually untoggled you yesterday since I was no longer visiting that thread since that was the only thing I didn't want to see from you (I've read all your posts in the rest of the threads anyway by "showing" them as I encountered them).

You do provide a very positive contribution to the forum and the BBCODE thread was helpful to many. I expressed at the time that I hoped most of those images would be used only on the general chat forum so as not to distract from the more serious posts in the main forum areas and it seems for the most part, this has happened.

I appreciate that you are willing to be a bit kinder to what for many are "older" eyes by not flashing gifs or eyeballs at us in your siggie line any more. smiling smiley

It takes maturity (and sobriety?) to post a public apology and I appreciate that this was probably not easy to do. You did not have any malicious intent and we all have lapses of judgment from time to time.

Thank you.

Time to build a bigger bridge.

Huh? Why is it that posters I found no problem with are apologizing? Where have I been? I never toggled you so you must have been 'misbehaving' when I was not posting. winking smiley

Scanman1, I forgive you for whatever transgression you feel you have done. Your penance- keep on posting and don't disappear!
So exactly where are the forum rules? (So I don't break any - I can be gross and obnoxious at times). I've looked before and I can't find them via search. This forum is using a different platform than what I am used to on other forums. What are the rules on posting pictures anyways? (Tasteful and relevant obviously.. but anything else?) So far all the rules I know is don't mention client and MSP in same thread due to ICA, and obviously don't be mean or trollish.

Scanman1 - I've never been offended by you but I'm pretty thick skinned unless it comes to a personal attack and then I'm pretty good at ignoring and/or standing up for myself. I haven't been here long, but I've always found your comments useful (I didn't see the maggots. If it was pertaining to food then I'd probably be in agreement with your reasoning).

As for drinking and posting, it's like drinking and texting, phone-calling etc. Time to turn off all communication and listen to some music.

edited cuz I can't proofread my own posts properly

Where are we going... and why are we in a hand basket?

Seriously, only the maggot thing was over the top. The other things were more a matter of preference and taste. There are no real rules other than what are stated below. Some people (myself included) occasionally express opinions about things we don't think have a place here. that doesn't make them rules, just requests for consideration or self-moderation. It's an invitation for discussion and if many people object to the same thing, it's polite to respect that.

If Jacob gets a lot of complaints about something, he will make the decision if it should be "ruled out," "discouraged," or "allowed." It's his forum.

I think you're great. I bought that Brother printer at Amazon for $90! If only you were here to set it up for me. ;-)
Scanman, I for one value your advise and knowledge, which you freely share.

LOL. I just went nuts trying to find the rules that are "posted below" and couldn't find them anywhere. You have to click in the "reply" box to see them. Which makes me wonder if that might be part of the problem we have with newbies, they don't see the rules until they're ready to take the plunge and make a post. gonna copy this over to the meta section.

Time to build a bigger bridge.
Sometimes when my hubby has had too many PBRs he tells me my bum is a bit big. I take some offence, yet, I still love him the next day (and even at the time).

But in the morning, I look and have to agree.

My bum is a bit big.
<tatjana>"Sometimes when my hubby has had too many PBRs"...

When I first read this, I thought it said, "Sometimes when my husband has too many Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches...."tongue sticking out smiley
Uh, then HIS bum would be too big. winking smiley

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
I had to watch some of my security video feeds recently to try to figure out what happened to a missing chicken. I can tell you with confidence that *my* bum is definitely too big. (going on a diet now)

Time to build a bigger bridge.
I enjoy your posts and I also have gained valuable knowledge from some of them. I like your GIF's.
Dont stop being you scanman1!
