Have You Ever Considered Starting a Mystery Shopping Company?

We recently ran across some data that suggested many Mystery Shoppers are interested in starting their own Mystery Shopping Company (MSC).

If you have ever considered this or are considering this, why did it or does it seem like a good or viable idea?

After signing up with as many companies that only have one or two clients, it looks like the market is saturated.

Of course, you could probably land the mutilated pizza account. grinning smiley
I was going to make a joke about wanting to do it just so I can get paid by the Mutilated Pizza Company without having to dirty my hands while mutilating the pizza, but it's just too tasteless.
Oh God no.

Why does this sound like very bad idea?

@DoogieZZ: So why haven't you? OR have you?

OP, have you started this thread just to get ideas and responses for an article for the online magazine?
I would think that the agreements Mystery Shoppers sign would prevent the shopper from soliciting any clients seen on the boards of the Mystery Shopping Companies worked for, if a shopper started his/own company. Therefore, you would have to be a pretty good salesman to approach new companies and sell "cold". Anyone has an opinions on this?
Hmmm...I've never thought of doing that, nor do I have a desire to start an MSC. But since you're putting the question out there...I think the pros would be possibly more profit. If you are just starting out with only one or two local clients, you don't need schedulers or other shoppers. You could probably do the shops yourself. This could mean low overhead and higher fee per shop. But as you grow, and need more manpower, it might get too stressful to be worth the money. And additionally, as other posters have pointed out, the market seems to be saturated. Coming up with clients may be hard too, depending on exactly how our IC agreememts are worded.
Okay, I use Chrome as my browser and I know that Google uses keywords for Ads but this is too much! I said Oh God No in an earlier post on this thread and Jesus is now in my sidebar.

:snort: Can't stop laughing at that one.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
No, I haven't.

But now that the question is raised, I can't see myself doing it unless a prime client or two dropped into my lap.

In my opinion, only that would make it worth the while to take the time, effort and cash to set up a company that needs to maintain a website and provide services to both clients and shoppers.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
"You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you on Facebook,
you would browse with me always.
But I have noticed that during
the times when the trolls are out in force
you were not there in my sidebar.
Why, when I needed you most,
you have not been there for me?"

The Lord replied,
"The times when you have
not seen me in your sidebar,
is when I toggled the trolls for you."

Hoju, you are going straight to hell. LOL Kidding. Clever take on that beach story!!!!
i am still new to this thing so i have no desirw or knowledge to start a ms company. after reading some of the awful posts by some shoppers i wouldnt want them working for me.
I am intrigued because I really don't know what happens after we submit our reports. Do the clients get an analysis of all of the shops? I assume so? Do they get the individual reports, or summarized verbatims? That is only the tip of the iceberg (I think) in terms of "stuff" that a mystery shopping company has to do which I don't know anything about.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
Definitely not! I got into mshopping partly to alleviate stress in my regular job. Why would I consider starting a Mystery Shopping Company? As my late husband used to say, when I mentioned a 'brilliant??' idea, "It's like getting a hammer and konking your head with it."

Courts recently confirmed they are 100% okay to use.
