My last Lowes shop

Tool department is by far the fastest for out of stock. Also you can find someone immediately now and don't have to wait 5 minutes for out of stock portion. I don't even bother with online search.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.

I was looking for a replacement battery for an older cordless drill today. The model number is on the battery. The Lowes I checked didn't have it in stock and Home Depot had to check 5 or 6 stores before the found inventory. Turned out it was actually a newer version of the battery I needed and no one had the one I needed. Might be an out of stock item to check for if you have any cordless tools.

For what it is worth the battery is $70 and for a few bucks more I can get an updated, more powerful drill, which I will do tomorrow. Perhaps that is why they don't stock old batteries.

I personally like Lowes and Home Depot but after doing 3 or 4 of them last year I decided the time on the computer and in the store was not worth it. The only thing I don't like is all the small hardware stores they put out of business.
Another thought, from personal experience - they also seem to be always out of the watch batteries that I need.
Just go to the website, and choose the right store for the assignment. Go into one of the departments, and then look for some white elephant, usually at the bottom of the item list. When you click it, you will immediately see info boxes on the right-hand side of the screen. If you do not see "available", and it has to be ordered and delivered to your address or the store, then you know it is out-of-stock.

At one time, I made at least $30 - $60 for these shops, but now that they've changed companies, I'm lucky to get a small bonus. I usually print out a picture of the item, complete with the item # and other information, so I don't have to memorize.

I know it's computerized, but I get very annoyed when I get a warning email that the report is late, when it isn't late, at all. Of course, the little note that some reports have special timeframes always makes everything right as rain.
One time I hadn't found something online ahead of time and began going thru the aisles looking for an empty spot. I found no inner tubes for a certain size trailer tire. When I went to the outdoor equipment desk, I got that suspicious look and quickly made up a long story about something in my garage.

For a few months early this year, there was an LED strip light that all the local stores were sold out of. Last shop, they had apparently discontinued it so I once again had to scramble.

I don't know as these are worth the $12 or $13 that they pay, not so much for the OOS frustration as for the fact that the scenario conversation often takes quite a while for the employee to ask all the right questions and offer the right services. $30 to $60 would be wonderful.
Are there many questions on the "debriefing" and is there much narrative? Could pick up one of these (just registered with the MSC). TIA!

You should try it out. I think it's a really easy report. I liked it better with the old MSC back in the days that they were bonused at the end of the month. I made a lot more money on them. The report is not bad. There's a little narrative. The annoying part is having to take the test every month after accepting one. I do them once in a while now but not often.
I find the Lowe's shop at base rate to be of little interest. If everything went perfectly on the shop (sure) the base rate might just cut it if I had no more lucrative opportunity and I needed a fill in shop to round out the dollars for the day. Nevertheless, I sometimes do them because that identifies me as an active Lowe's shopper. As a result I've done some outlying Lowe's at bonuses that made me sing Hallelujah.

We could be a chorus. I've made out like a bandit.
Has everybody been finding that this MSC is not offering the bonuses they've offered in the past. I've been able to consistently a $25 bonus for doing some in the neighboring towns. Now when they call and I say I'll do them for $25 they come back with a counteroffer of $10. They have even offered me less than the bonus showing on the website. Have other seen this too?
They NEVER have counter top dishwashers in any of the stores. They are usually on the website.
eclark, sounds like you have new competition. They pay whatever it takes to get the job done. That varies.

I usually go into the lighting aisle, or the bathroom faucets. I can always find something that is out there. I do the same thing, go down the aisles and look. They do not store stock in the back, they always say it is out. So if it is not out, they likely do not have any.
