Their policy is to have a manager thank every customer who buys a computer. I have done mystery shops and audits there, as well as having been a customer. They are supposed to do it. They sell far more computers than they could ever have mystery shoppers. Whether the thank you is sincere or not is a different matter. They have multiple managers on duty at any given time, so I don't think that it is meant to foil shoplifters. They do not even let you touch the computer box until you have paid for it, so I can't see how one could be shoplifted (the computers on displays are alarmed), but of course I am an honest person, and locks do not really stop theives.
