No More Home Pizza Delivery for me.... humbug.

I didn't want to dredge up an old thread about being identified as a Papa John's shopper, so here goes my fresh one with data points for future learning.

I was outed at the location that I only do home deliveries from. I always use coupons, I vary up my order (always two pizzas or more), and shop on different days of the week. While I am not sure what grades they get on their pizza photos - they always do reasonably well on my reports.
Of course they never ask if I would like to donate, and they never tell me the delivery time when they deliver it.... sometimes they don't say "your order will be ONLY $22)

I guess a year of once a month pizza delivery was enough. I'll miss them because I work a full-time regular job and it sure was nice to have dinner planned and not have to leave the house. There are still many carry out shops in my area...

I know a lot of people don't like this pizza, or this shop. But it was enjoyable and easy for me. Oh well. Onward!

Maybe you could pick up some drive thru shops on your way home from work? At least one of the meals would be paid and it might be tastier than PJ's.
I too was outed by a Papa Johns shop last year- and have to wait at least a year to do another shop. I had no problem doing the shops: good pictures, on time, no cancellations, no rejected shops. BUT I gave a couple of bad/marginal reviews for a couple shops and *POOF* I am outted. The general managers are running the show here: They often know who the shoppers are - but only the "bad" shoopers are outted. Why would they out a shopper who says only GOOD things about them?

Want to get rid of a "problem shopper"? Just "out" them and problem solved (for the general manager.) The lesson to the shopper?: Keep your mouth shut and say only nice things. They are grooming a bunch of "yes men" shoppers. PJ is one of the worst for "eating thier own" shoppers. ARE YOU LISTENING, PAPA JOHNS?
It doesn't make a lot of sense, because honestly I never had what I would call a bad report. They often missed several of the items that were on the form, but they missed them all the time, consistently.

I am wondering the weight of the picture in the shop score. I can't control whatever they are graded on in the picture that I take. I understand that it is analyzed by some special software.
If the problem is the score they receive on the software analysis - outing the shopper does them little good.

You would think after several reports of them missing the same question, they would fix it if they were getting dinged on it - but you know - that would make sense. :-)

My 'gone back to college' son LOVES for me to have a Papa's pizza in the freezer for days when he doesn't have time to cook a meal for himself :-)

Really confuse them, periodically order pizza anyway.

Or better yet get a friend to do the shops from now on and order the same Pizza that they do on the same day I know it violates the ICA but &%^$. Confusion is good for everyone. Especially if the MSC won't stick up for the shoppers.
I recently ordered a couple on my own dime - and they were actually really good - the new Philly cheesesteak on thin crust!
I did a 'special' shop for the philly cheesesteak pizza and it was really good. My mom was staying with us at the time and she loved it. I do like the thin crust better, but my daughter likes the regular crust with the garlic dipping sauce. Using the Entertainment book BOGO coupon worked out well for us when doing the shop.

My co-worker also does the PJ's shops, but he lives on the other side of town and we don't poach on each other. He was also baffled at why they would out a shopper. Perhaps we could follow the suggestion and he takes a carry-out and I do a delivery and we order the same regular crust pizza.
My impression of this shop is that they are more concerned about the appearance of the pizza and what they can see during a detailed analysis of the photo more than the "customer service" aspect of the shop. If the customer service was that important, I would expect that it would have improved during the last year that I have been shopping the same stores. Out of the 2-4 shops I do per month for over a year, I have only been offered a promo or upsell once or twice. No one has ever used the word "only" before or after the price.

How is this an ICA violation? If anything, this is pure genius and just proves that "spot the shopper" doesn't work.
You are not fooling them one bit. For the record I do NOT do them now. I did until I found a friend is now a driver at PJ.
He says the order screen CLEARLY says shopper on it. CLEARLY. Every time you order personally or for a shop they know you ARE a shopper. No secrets there. As to why if you give them a negative OR if the pics go up the food chain to a higher up even if you passed them the powers that be could find fault in the pizza. You by default have lost because the manager can track back to you. You might have done nothing wrong except show the errors of the pizza maker.
If you change the phone number your calling from and it's a pick up instead of a delivery, they won't know your the shopper until you walk in and the pie is already cooked. I create a new VoIP (Like Google Voice) phone number for each job and use a different name. They can add the word shopper to each disposable phone number afterwards if they want to.

Take the photo of the pizza placed on random bath towels and not the same surface each time.
That is fine IF pick is allowed.

I have only had one delivery in my zip code in the last 6 months. Someone in my zip is snatching them up almost instantly. I get a better bonus going to the next two further locations and shopping for two other companies. Three closest locations are shopped by three different companies. The botox man likes to spread his work around.
I got an email from the main Papa's MSC in my area, which said I'd been identified at the store where I've done at least one carryout per month for the past year. I can't say I've too upset. Although it was convenient to have pizza tucked away in the freezer, I mainly did them when I got tired of the schedulers begging me to accept the jobs.

I have never had a problem with their pizza, but I would much rather have the other Papa's pizza and it is way cheaper

I was removed from my home delivery store. Their reports were 100% perfect. So, this logic does not apply.

Did you leave the $1 tip they have in the shop instructions, or the $2 they will really reimburse? Bad tippers are more likely to be outed by the driver. They do put notes on the address and phone # for good and bad tippers in the computer notes area and will deliver the pies from the higher tipper to the lower tipper order if they have multiple deliveries.

I give the pizza guy at least $3 if it's fast and hot for a single pie.
Actually it makes perfect sense. They do not go solely on what you see. Why do you think you take the pictures?
Those pictures are compared and contrasted at the corporate level. They saw something you did not.

I do it randomly enough there is NO WAY they would know I was the MSer - including using Google Voice numbers, etc.

$3 every time. I checked to be sure that my neighbors weren't giving $5 or more before I left only $3. My neighbors give $3. For some reason, they order from this company. I have no idea why anyone would, given the choice?
I just did my second delivery yesterday evening. Got another next weekend, too. (All with $10 bonus!) If there is no discernible method to the booting madness, then I'll milk this as long as I can. I have used both my cellphones to order so far and stepmom won't complain about a freebie meal like that, either.

For delivery shops, they have two ways of identification--your phone number and your address.

There is absolutely a way IF you use the the same address more than once. Those are coded by address.

Is the other Papa's shopped? I thought they only relied on the receipt surveys....?

We are upon PJ Season in my house. With school out, grandkids sspend more time here. And a week without two pizza "meals" means grandma doesn't fix good meals. By the time they return to school, we wil be into foodball season. For my benefit, trying to serve all the people who are over watching the game, means more work on me. I make it easy on myself and serve wings (another MS) or pizza. They would have to out me amoung all the people ordering pizza on football days. And if they do, I will still continue to order pizza's. Some just might not be PJ's anymore.

Hey, I was outed for a PJ location I had never, ever walked into for a carry out shop! I asked the scheduler who banned me how on earth I could have been banned from a place I had not been to. The only reply was that the store had identified me as a shopper.

I don't work for that scheduler anymore. If she couldn't take the the time to be actually LOOK at my shop log and see that I had not been to that location, then she would know that a mistake had been made. I was allowed to continue shopping other locations. Why bother?

Don't take it personally. I think they like to mix it up sometimes. Give it some time, and you should be able to shop them again for delivery.

You could have been outed before you walked in the door by the phone number you called the order in from if they have notes on the account from the previous shop where they actually outed you.

You also could have been outed by an employee who floats from one location to another.

This was a real problem for me when doing a route of buy and return cell phone shops. The owner had about 8 locations I was shopping and the employees were given shifts at a different location every day. I'd walk into a store 15 miles from the one I bought a phone from the day before and have the same salesman walk up to me with a sh*t eating grin on his face.
