Don't ever let the employee make you feel bad about doing what you need to do and collecting your pay for the job smiling smiley
That is why we do what we do. For all she knows, you were a regular customer. She shouldn't treat any customer that way.
So people doing the things they are supposed and that have a cheerful disposition are then considered a Gruntled Employee.
If you ask for a receipt they need to give you one. None of their business why you need it. You did the right thing.

My posts are solely based on my opinions and for my entertainment, contact a professional if you need real advice.

Had the exact same thing happen yesterday. I think "grouchy" was the word I used in my report.
Usually, the gas station attendants here are very polite and hard-working. However, I ran into a nasty little girl myself. After the 3rd attempt at using my reward points only to be told their "machine was down" yet again (and I lost my points) I asked about how to get in touch with corporate or the franchise owner. She said she didn't know and just stared at me waiting for me to go away instead of asking a co-worker. I said, "okay, I'll just see what I can find on my own." She turned back to her co-worker and muttered, "good luck with that." Little did she know I have weirdly acute hearing.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
I've been doing these shops for about three years now and it seems to me that more and more the employees are friendlier and offering receipts without having to ask. I've chalked it up to them taking the MS reports more seriously. However, then I run into the one I did earlier this week and know that not all employees got the memo. Some people are just so sour they can't help themselves. Granted, they could be going thru some personal problem, but if you can't hide it from the customers, you should probably take some time off before you get fired and make things even worse for yourself.
I sometimes feel like that especially when its a long like and the cashier is gabbing with someone off to the side. Was at a BB & B today doing the merchandising thing and it took 20 minutes to get a Manager because of that.

I wanted to say, "Look honey, I may very well be holding your job in my hand" but I just stood there watching her produce the receipt in her ornery little way...
I did a gas station this week where the employee was wearing one of those mechanics uniforms with the logo on one side and this name embroidered on a patch on the other side. The name was in script and it was a foreign name so I asked this guy who was already annoyed if I could read his patch so he can get credit for wearing his name tag (how nice of me, right??)

His response- "You're not wearing yours. Why should you need to see mine??"

All righty then! "Name tag illegible." And it was. I could not read it and he was not going to help.
