Hey shoppers! I'm am looking to hear from the shoppers that have used shadow shopper! I completely see where I could benefit from it! Don't worry, I'm not shopping near you! lol I want honest opinion. I saw a precious discussion, but it just said that it wasn't needed.. There were no testamonies from the people who actually paid. I'm not against paying something little for them to do the work! But I don't want to support a company that is a rip off! Thanks! You guys have been so helpful to me!

I paid and it was spam..... Absolute crap..... Daily emails of "work from home $50"

Shadow Shopper charges you to see the available shops. If I remember right, when I was very, very new, I signed up and the fee was less than $10 for Silver but they gave me Gold as well. I did it only once. But I got my foot into some MSC which I would not have known as I did not sign up with a lot of them. I was very new in the game and like what I said in earlier posts, I paid my dues. I don't need Shadow Shopper anymore but the fee I gave them was worth it for a rookie who was still testing the water.

I got an email for a free gold membership trial. You do have to provide a credit card or Paypal info, so cancel before it charges you. I see a lot of posting I knew about from other sites, but a couple that I haven't been able to find yet, such as retail stores. So that was nice. They also had the Lifetime gold membership for $40, but I don't know if I could justify paying that. It is nice to have available jobs collected for you though.

I bought the lowest level membership when I was just starting. I felt it was worth it and after 3 months I went on my own. It was worth it to me.

I was same as MBShops. That was 2007.

my rule is never ever pay to get jobs/work! legit companies pay you not the other way around! this goes for acting/extra work as well!

I used Shadow Shopper in the beginning. Simply because I had no idea where to look for other resources. I paid for the membership for 3 or 4 months, I was working very hard for very little money. I don't know how Shadow Shopper gets the jobs they advertise, but it's consistently the jobs that no self-respecting shopper wants. The worst companies, the ones that claim that they can't use your shops and refuse to pay you even though they do use them.

I also used Shadow Shopper in the beginning to see what was in my area. After a couple of months, I was signed up with a lot of mystery shopping companies and getting emails from them, so didn't need Shadow Shopper anymore. Prestomap will show you Sassie shops in your area and Jobslinger also has a listing of Sassie shops. This won't show you everything, but will show you the companies who use the Sassie system to post jobs.

I signed up for the free service a couple of months ago, and got no leads. A few weeks later, I got an offer for a free trial of the upgraded service, and used it to get leads to get me started. That was all I needed to now have more than enough work to keep me busy.

I have heard of people having trouble canceling and still being charged when they try to cancel.

I used SHADOW SHOPPER for a month and upgraded to the Gold so I can see and apply for jobs. I paid $4.95 for the one month service which was a trial offer since I was a new user.Then it was supposed to go back to the regular rate of $29.95. Money was tight then and I did not pay the $29.95 fee; however a couple months passed and I got an email asking me to come back and pay an introductory rate of $4.95 again. Also I am a newcomer also and what I gather I should pay the fee and sign up to as many companies as I can. That is what I did the first time around. I was considering taking this action again and wanted some feedback because I am hearing we as Mystery Shoppers/IC should NEVER HAVE TO PAY TO GET SHOPS.Just wondering which direction should I go?

I would never pay! Check out Job Slinger, its free and will give you an idea of what (Sassie based)companies are doing Shops in your area --- You probably will not get the shops advertised on Job Slinger, but it will lead you to companies where you will get different shops in your area. Also check out the List of Official Mystery Shopping Companies on this Forum. There is a link at the bottom of the page. You can do a search on the Forum or even check out the Mystery Shopping Magazine to find out what other Mystery Shoppers think of a company. And to make sure they pay as promised!

Something to note is, with such aggregation services, you are not paying to shop. You are paying a company to package all those job listings up and tie them with a pretty little bow. Those who are proactive and know their way around online can easily find work. Those who prefer to have someone else gather all those jobs together may feel it's worth their time to have somebody do it for them.

For years the most frequent complaint with Shadow Shopper was that you needed to give them a credit card number to start your 'free trial'. If you did not cancel your 'free trial' well before your end date they automatically started charging your credit card. It seems to me that folks were getting hit something like $89 for a year's membership and they couldn't cancel for a refund. They may have cleaned up that part of the 'business' because it sounds as though folks have been able to use them for a month or two without an outrageous cost.

Years ago I paid the $4.95 and got my foot in the door. I had no idea what companies where out there, the names of them and which were safe, let alone how to find the shops. I was so green! I did get a few shops from them, got signed up with some great companies and here I am now. I quit a long, long time ago. BTW, I did get emails from companies asking me to do shops for them without applying for them. I was shocked about that.
