Shopping for free

Just saw one of the electronic brand companies asking
it's fans to mystery shop and go undercover - for free.
"knowing you will help them build better products in the future"

Your task is to:

~Head out to a nearby electronics store and shop around.
~Pay attention to new tech accessories not made by us.
~Look at, touch and test the products to get a really good sense of how they work.
~Ask a sales associate for their opinion too. Ask them to demo the device, find out how well it’s selling and if they think it has any major flaws.
~When you find something that you really like, and take a picture to share with us. Don’t forget to also include an explanation of why you like the accessory and what features make it great.
Your submission title should follow the format: “Brand Name - Accessory Name”

This company used to use "real" mystery shoppers in the past as from
time to time they would popup on the job boards. Hopefully its not
sucessful otherwise more may be inclined to follow suit.

There are two types of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data.
Free? Who wants to work for free? Once in a great while I have not been paid including one that the check was "in the mail". It still has not arrived and this was several years ago. I have not worked for them since.

It comes in knowing you had a role helping them shape
the future of their product line. Suppose to be a feel good
thing I guess

Techman,

Is it time to reveal the name of the company? Why? So we know to patronize the place, or not.

Happily shopping Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut
Sometimes, I do those surveys on the receipt at a taco shop. I get a free taco to do it. It's not cash but it's a free taco at a place where I eat a lot. But this other electronics store thing... They give you nothing? No thanks. I wonder if they make you comment on all 'No' answers in the free report... smiling smiley

Are these the same ones where we would ask about cameras, home theater speakers, television etc.? We always had between 3 and 5 items to ask about.

I am thinking that hey are hoping the customer will not be shopping for free but actually be paying to be a "mystery shopper" Get the customer in the store, have them feel all giddy because they are "mystery shopping" and out comes the credit card and out the door goes some electronics on that card.
Keep in mind that it's not a retailer requesting this, but a manufacturer. An interesting bit of market research... what other products on the market do our loyal customers find appealing, i.e. what do we need to manufacture to keep our customers satisfied. Could backfire though, if these loyal customers fall in love with the other brands they are finding and leave the fold.
