Increased price of gas

I was just wondering how other shoppers feel the price of gas will affect their mystery shopping. In my area, gas has reached $3.09/gal for regular unleaded. Since I drive an SUV, I figure it will not be worth it unless I am able to schedule 4-5 shops in the same area. This is usually difficult because I find shops in my area usually fall within a couple days of each other with their deadlines. I'm hoping schedulers will give a better timeframe and not make you commit to a specific date. This would allow for coordinating shops and re-arranging if necessary. Hopefully, they will also start increasing shop fees.

The only way I can justify the price of gas is doing routes. I do not do a route unless I can do at least 10-15 shops a day. Yesterday I did a route and drove over 600 miles and did 32 shops. That at least paid for the gas. It was over $500.00 in fees so that paid for itself.

I have to commend you and don't know how you do it, but you must be highly organized. I have more than I can handle doing a max of 5 shops a day. Where do you get the energy to do all that and then come home and enter all of those shops? What wee hour of the morning do you start out at and what is the average time span of your shops in order to do 32 in one day?

Sat. morning I left home at 7:00 AM. I got back at midnight. I then attached all of the receipts to the forms so they would be ready to go in the morning. Scanning receipts in and attaching them took me about 2 and a half hours. I finally went to bed at 3:30. I got up in the morning and did the reports that needed to be sent in first and then started the rest of them that I have 48 hours. I am still working on the reports that need to be in by midnight tonight. I am about 3/4 done. I have to leave and do three noon shops in about an hour so will get back to reports hopefully by 4:30 this afternoon. Will probably get the last one in just about the time it is due.
