McDs..do NOT correct wrong items

this is a follow up to the post where the person claimed the shop was rejected because she was supposed to correct the order when given a large...

I am looking at the screening questions...they say:

If you are given a wrong size or an item is incorrect, you should NOT correct the order (Correct the order only if an item is MISSING). Do you agree not to have a wrong item or size corrected?

If you are given a wrong size or an item is incorrect, you should NOT correct the order (Correct the order only if an item is MISSING). Do you agree not to have a wrong item or size corrected?

(yes the question is listed twice)

is this new in the screening questions or a new requirement..were you allowed to correct wrong items in the past? its been so long that i did one that I don't even have the last guidelines....

also, is there any way to tell BEFORE accepting a shop if it is a special order or not....I don't like doing the special order since there are less choices...and for one meal, I can't pick something I like...so its not worth it.
I'm not sure of the answer to your first post. I saw the two questions on the screening questions. That is new. I was never asked that question on a screening to my memory (hey, not promising, I've been wrong before - at least twice!) but I think the previous guidelines said ORDER the medium and don't let them upgrade you but if you were given the wrong size not to correct it. Not sure. It looks like they are clarifying here.

Second question - yes. When you are on the WebFX and you click Details/Select, you do the Screening Questions. Then you go to the Shop Details. The Shop Details tell you everything that the CPI will tell you, so by reading the Shop Details before you scroll down and select a date and Accept the Assignment, you will know whether the shop is a special order or not before you accept it.
I have never done the mcd but yesterday at hedgehog she gave me mayo instead of mustard. I ate it anyway, like who really cares, don't believe in wasting food, and then my report would have been harder. smiling smiley
That's what the MSC and client wants... But that doesn't mean I have to agree with it.

If it were me, I'd correct it if I was paying on my own dime.

who cares if its wrong? some people don't like mayo...a person allergic to milk or lactose intolerate couldn't eat a cheeseburger when they ordered a hamburger...
Jmitw, I think that's why I've seen screening questions asking if you are allergic or have an intolerance for any foods.

To further this point, at least MSC lets you know about this requirement before signing up. If you don't like it, don't sign up. Simply as that. This isn't the only MSC that tells the shopper to hold back from correcting your order if it's wrong.

True, I couldn't mention my lukewarm soup at a restaurant last week. that really made me prefer fast food shops as at least there is a fee on top of the reimbursement. If the food is my only payment it is disappointing when it is barely palatable.

Submitting an inaccurate report for convenience sake is definitely wrong. The client needs to know they are not satisfying the customers requests. They pay for a snapshot of a customer interaction and order. You got paid for doing it, conversely they should get what they paid for. You may not see it, but the store may be losing sales and the reason may be because they are serving incorrect orders. The metrics we provide aid the store in improving customer service. You can't fix what is wrong if you don't know about it. Identifying problems is what we do. You make us all look bad.

yes...they ask about allergies for food shops...but as long as you can eat something that is required..you can still do the shop.....a milk allergy doesn't prevent you from eating chicken or hamburger....which would be compatible choices...you don't have to be able to eat every item offered...
I never said that I personally have a problem with not correcting the order...i brought the issue up because about a month ago someone said their shop was rejected because they were told that were supposed to correct the order....

an issue is that I could tolerate a bite of a food I don't really like...but then it would go to waste...i hate wasting food and do not pick up food shops unless i plan to eat the items....so i would care if it was wrong for that reason...

and some people would really care if the order was wrong...whether they had a medical reason or just did not like the mistaken item....

when they do allow corrections...you can still accept the wrong item i think.....its just report it was incorrect, but you took it anyway...as opposed to the longer report on how they corrected it

The main reason is this: If your order is MISSING one of the 3 items, you MUST get the third item.

If your order is incorrect, such as wrong drink size, wrong kind of sandwich, you agree to NOT correct it (but report it later) when it says: "Did you get the correct drink size?" What size did you order? What size did they give you? What size is on your receipt?

All of this is about "timing" You have always had to the choice to correct your wrong item, but now, that is gone. You will not correct an incorrect order. Once again, it's all about the "timing" If you are missing an item, you MUST get that item and continue timing until you get it. smiling smiley

As usual, it's always a good reminder to ALWAYS review the guidelines and NEVER assumed nothing had changed since the last time you did a shop. We see threads on this all the time whenever a popular client changes up their guideline, but it should be expected that we review them for any changes.

Fortunately, this MSC does a good job highlights any major changes for repeat shoppers.

I goofed one today. Yes, I read the new guidelines, but was on autopilot this morning. (Got a late start due to a baby possum walking up our basement stairs. Cute little critter…) When I ordered a breakfast combo I for got to specify what size of coffee I wanted. *smacks forehead* With my "#1 Combo" the default was small, and we're supposed to insist on medium now.
I swear they are reading this board and changing the guidelines in the new month questionnaire to fix the issues people here are posting about that caused invalidated shops.

Yes, They are reading the posts here. They wont post here, but they are making the guidelines more clear based on the feedback here.
Perhaps the employees of this mystery shopping company are not allowed to post here? But, I am glad they are reading the posts, to streamline the shops and make it better for everyone smiling smiley
A couple of Help Desk employees have actually posted here in the past and I suspect they have been told not to do so.

HA! That's hilarious. I ONLY do special orders. In fact I've had them change regular to special order for me so I would take the shop.

I prefer breakfast because I can peel the meat off a McGriddle and enjoy two cups of coffee. With the supper and lunch I find myself picking at the fries if I don't toss them as soon as I drive away.
You are NOT supposed to say anything at Arches if the order is wrong, other than as stated if something is missing.

There are several other clients that require you DO say something, specially the FG shop. I had cheese on my plain burger at FG, I liked having free cheese, so did not complain. I stated in my honest answer on the report why I did not say something, that was my first and so far only reject for a FG shop.

I think I figured this out. I think this: "do NOT correct your order" is mostly to do with being outed as a mystery shopper.

Here is why:

You: I will have a Medium Coke.

McD: Okay, here you go.

You: I said Medium, this is a Large.

McD: Yeah, well Large is running a special so I gave you a Large.

You: I "insist" you give me a Medium Coke, right now!

McD: "Huh? What's the difference. You are getting a bigger drink, for the same price.

You: (furious now) I can't HAVE a Large!

McD Why?

You: Because I want a Medium ONLY! tongue sticking out smiley

(a little exaggerated for entertainment purposes--but perhaps some shoppers get visibly upset at this "medium" drink thing...tongue sticking out smiley

I think this is a "huge shopper alert" to them because what customer is going to get upset if you give them a larger drink for the same as a medium. And certainly, what customer would complain about that and insist a receipt change, a drink change. It just reeks of "Shopper!!"

Sunny,

Survey: What size did you order? What size does your receipt say? What size did you get?

As long as you say your ordered a Medium, you are good to go. Plus, the price you were charged will clearly define what you ordered. They just check the price to make sure you ordered a Medium. That simple. I have had my share of receipts that say Large, never had a shop rejected for it.

I had a McD guy try and upsell me the 10 piece chicken McNuggets this weekend. I told him I couldn't eat them all (I only ate half of one, anyway.) He told me I could give what I didn't want to all the people hanging around outside the location waiting for a meal. I felt I was being very obvious, insisting I only wanted the 6 piece meal. He wouldn't let it go! But, you do what you gotta do!
I do understand why some shops say "don't correct a wrong order". It is because it can make you memorable. I was at a five guys and they put mustard on my burger which I HATE. The directions said to fix any mistakes so I took my burger to the counter and explained there was mustard on it which I did not order. Oh Boy!! They practically fell over me apologizing and the manager personally delivered a new burger to me. He then sat down at my table and chatted with me. He then promised my next meal would be free. I haven't accepted another shop at that location yet until he forgets about me!!

Don't order by number:

@ wrote:

Do not order by meal number. Instead, say, "I'll have a Medium Big Mac Value Meal," etc.
I thought you could correct your meal if you time when the order was delivered.

I was at a double drive in and was handed the order for the car behind me. I was just given the bag and then the drink came out and I knew it was wrong when it was an iced coffee. When I said what I ordered, I opened the bag and realized the error. I noted the time for my report. I was given the correct order (after they finished making it) but had to report the time from the first wrong order was received. I wrote this up and it was clarified in the comments and by the MSC verifying the time I gave was when I received the wrong order.

This was just last month and I did get paid for the shop.
