Shop review vent

I had a shop today and followed it to the letter. There were parts that they did not complete and I noted that as much and why it happened. The reviewer docked me a point. I'm not mad about the point but about the comment's. I got dinged for sentence structure and "not reading the comments and following the directions in them". So I try to contact the proofreader with their enclosed email address and I get it sent back saying it can't be sent, invalid email. So I get dinged for something I have no clue on nor did they say what it was AND they can't even type in their email address properly! I have 2 more of these shops to complete and IF I missed something I should be able to find out what it was.
Sorry for the vent but I'm very irritated about this whole thing.

Welcome to mystery shopping. This happens all the time. I just shrug it off and chalk it up to the editor justifying their job. Don't sweat the lower point, honestly it doesn't matter. They only time you should get concerned is if you don't follow guidelines and they disqualify the shop and don't pay you. It rarely happens, I have to admit sometimes I have to laugh when they say things like "made some adjustments on grammar". Really? I have an MBA and my husband is an attorney and we sometimes do the report together (when its a high end dinner), and your questioning my grammar? Again, just shrug it off...
Apparently the editor doesn't want to hear what you have to say. Arguing with editors is as useless as arguing with people on this forum. I've tried both and it's like playing chess with a pigeon. Try not to get sucked into the grade hype. They are all wildly inconsistent. Some companies look for reasons to dock points just to squeeze a little more work out of you next time, or to make you think a hero bonus is worth something. Even the competent editors are rushing through and stamping as quickly as possible because they are only making a few bucks per shop. As long as an 8 pays as much as a 10, move on to the next job. If you spend 40 minutes instead of 30 minutes on your shop for a perfect score, you just cut your own pay by 25%. Try to take that perfect 10 to the bank.

Thank you both for helping me keep this in perspective. It really wasn't the point that got me its the tone this person used. I have had an issue with this reviewer with rude comments before so I guess that's what set me off.
Ignore it. Michael C is spot on. You can't bank a ten score.

I have reviewed your post, and have given you a 7 due to some adjustments to your grammar.

LOOOOOOL!!! Thanks I needed a good laugh this morning. So true though. I deleted Intellishop from my list very quickly.
I love when I get contacted by an editor, just to verify something in my report and they ding me 1-2 points because they had to contact me.

That's an interesting debate for me. Michael C has a good point that I hadn't exactly considered before, but I'm not sure that I agree. I'm really only satisfied with 9's and 10's on my shops. Yes, I know you get paid the same amount for a 7 or 8, but if I were a scheduler, you'd better believe I'd look at potential shoppers' past performance before assigning the higher-paying shops. If I take the extra few minutes to score a perfect 10, don't I have a better chance of landing an assignment worth hundreds of dollars down the road? Or developing a good relationship with a company, which is worth thousands?

On a side note, I don't quite understand all the hate that Intelli-Shop gets on this forum. I really like them--I get high-paying assignments from them, and have never scored less than a 10 on a single job. The schedulers and editors that I've spoken to have been awesome. I wish they had more shops in my area that fit my niche.

It's funny how people can have such different experiences from the same client, whether it's eating at a restaurant or taking a contract from an MSC. If you think about it, that's really at the heart of what we do as mystery shoppers.

If you want to know what you might have missed, you might contact the scheduler and ask them to find out for you. I've done this, and it turned out to be a really minor thing. But, chances are the editor just had to justify their work that day. I got a comment about something recently, and I was extremely careful about what detail I gave, so that I would meet the requirements. I don't do those shops very often (really not worth it, but what the heck, I needed to go there, anyway), and this time I braced myself to let the editor comments roll off my back.
Your chance is better at landing that peach than a shopper with a lower average if fee is not in question. My average is 9 and if we bid the same you've earned that job, grant you that and welcome to it. Other than an equal offer, the proven shopper who bids the least gets the job. I agree that a 10 position is stronger than a 9 position but I believe a 9 position is good enough for anything they offer. I'm influenced in my lack of concern over my 9 average by being in an area where I see everything except far western Texas snapped up off the board. I'm not going to Van Horn or Pecos for any amount they would be willing to pay. As long as I can self assign, good enough for me.

I've posted before I believe they're an OK company. No problems here.

There is nothing wrong with striving for a ten at all times. We just have to be realistic depending on the company we are dealing with at the time. For some tens are cheap and if you don't screw up royally, write in complete, cohesive sentences and provide your POV the result will always be the highest score. Others hold onto those tens like they are worth their weight in gold, using any excuse to drop a potential ten down to an eight or nine. Just know the difference and then relax.

I've gotten plum assignments from companies where my average was not a ten. Your average is just one of the factors determining whether you get the shop. I don't agree that when two shoppers are willing to do it for the same fee with only a point separating them the assignment will only go to the one with a slightly higher average or the jobs always go to the lowest bidder. Theoretically shopper A could have only performed 50 shops, be a PITA who never tries to help a scheduler in need and still has a ten average. Shopper B has performed 500 shops, added last minute work when a scheduler was struggling, is so familiar with the clients/scenarios they need no coaching and has a nine average. Shopper B could probably be asking for more money and stand just as good a chance or better of getting the assignment.

I consider Intelli a learning experience and like a student, I wait for my grade.

The last shop I did for them was nearly a year ago, and the editor came back at me for info on a bonused shop that I only took for the money.

My score suffered, and I have avoided the company since then. Maybe they miss me, probably not. 😊.

I'll get back to them, sometime.
If someone has major issues with Intelli-Shop, my suggestion is to call them directly.

With respect to finding out what was incorrect with your grammar or sentence structure, you will rarely get an answer. I have also found that with the exception of one scheduler, most schedulers (at Intelli-Shop) don't care about you, once you've completed a shop and it was 'approved'. That's been my experience. That's been my wifes experience. Maybe others have different opinions.

Anywho, I'm certainly with the other posters here....don't worry about it!

I can see why they marked you off for grammar. You misspelled "your" in your post. It should have been you're.
Comment's should not have an apostrophe in your comments. Maybe that's why you were marked down.
I can relate. I also followed shop instruction to the letter and had a shop declined because although the instructions had a controdiction, that I pointed out, they still said "if the client wont pay then they cant pay" even if they created the conflict.
And then shut down all communicatiins.
As if their position on the matter is fair.
For your situation just avoid shopping for them, contact scheduler and let them know that you cant complete the future shops As Scheduled in fear of making repete mistake you dont know you made the first shop. Ask for clairification prior to rescheduling and see if scheduler cant get you some answers to avoid having to reschedule or find replacment for you.
Hopefully they dont shut down communications like mine did.

Good luck
My Grammer checking system works great in my word system, but not so great in my post and text msg systems. So pointing out crap spelling in this forum seems a bit rude.
It almost seems scheduler/editor like now that I think about it. MSers dont come to these forums to watch schedulers/editors pick us apart.
Its not just about the grade we get, its about building relationships with the schedulers. Picking up under funded shops to help them out sticks in their memory.
Moving on when treated poorly is the way to go. There is so much work out there that we learn what company(s) to avoid.
I just got a "no pay" notice for a water ice shop. I ordered exactly what I was supposed to but in the narrative I put "ice" instead of "drink". The receipt shows "drink" but they refuse to pay me for the shop. Now mind you I've been doing these shops since they started and this is the first little boo boo I've made. So I get screwed over because of one word? The receipt shows I ordered the correct thing. They won't budge. Oh well, no more water ices/drinks for me this year!
Enough with the Nazi Grammar Police already. It is a Friday. Chill people and have a drink!

Cal intellishop directly you said. Have you ever done that yourself, Just asking I would like to have the number to call as I have never been able to get them to the phone. It has been almost impossible to get them to return an email promptly. I had an unpleasant experience recently where they flaked me on a shop and if I could have gotten a response that could have been avoided it took me four days to get an answer. On the up side I still get offers for shops with bonuses lol. Would still appreciate a good number to call.

Never sweat the small stuff there is enough big stuff to think about.

So sorry to have to twist your arm like that! Well, now it is Saturday morning. Should we do a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa?
