Scam or Not?

Hello,

Thank you for responding to our craigslist post. This is a short term survey opportunity to make a few extra dollars.

We work with various survey companies for unique studies, the idea is to see how fast people are receiving mail in the modern age.

If you choose to participate you will be sent an item of mail that has a unique pin code enclosed ( printed inside). Once you receive the item of mail you email the code back to us.

Whats in it for you? For your participation you will receive $25- $50 dollars depending on how many times you are chosen to participate. You can use the money however you like..

The requirements for the program include a valid residential address (no PO boxes are accepted). Please reply to this email with your valid residential address if you are interested in participating.

We do not accept multiple people in the household participating but one person may participate up to 2 times.

Thank You

Hmm.. Hey Pooch, can you say what area you are in and what part of CL the ad appeared? Maybe the same post is showing up on CL in multiple areas. It may be legit. I could see how companies may be interested in finding out how fast mail is getting delivered. I would reply with a request for more information, but I would use my throw away email address for now. My home address is not exactly super secret information. It can be obtained easily by anyone. As long as they are not asking for account numbers or SS#'s I may be inclined to investigate further.

Could be either...honestly, not enough info. There is a company of which I'm aware that monitors mail. I would proceed with extreme caution and not supply personal information until you're satisfied it's real, but don't write it off just yet.
At this point they aren't offering insane amounts of money, only $25 a pop and then capping it at two "shops." While the PIN number first sounded a little odd, it could just be their way of avoiding fraud on the part of a participant.
