On the way to a shop when........

I was driving to a shop today when I felt a memorable but unwelcome pain in my back. Yep, it was another kidney stone attack, and all my pain meds were at home, of course. It seemed I hit every red light on the three miles to the house and I could barely put the key in the lock. Spent an uncomfortable hour waiting for the meds to kick and and I got a nice nap out of it. Luckily the shop had an eleven hour window and I'm off to do it now.

What's the worst thing you've experienced that kept you from getting to a shop?

I had to cancel four shops because my spouse passed away. That was a huge change of plans that day.
Several years ago a police dog took a bullet intended for a police officer and died while the officer was unharmed. A huge funeral was organized in a large church on a major thoroughfare, bringing in police and their K-9s from all over the country. Local news reports indicated that there were more than 1000 officers present, about half of them with their dogs. I was unlucky enough to be racing between two shops in a tight time window when the funeral procession was being ushered out of the church parking lot and all other traffic was stopped. Not only was the vehicle line long, I could not turn around and go another way. Once the procession was finally out of the parking lot it crawled along at about 10 miles per hour and I had to follow them for more than a mile before I got to a cross street where I could get off and use another route to my shop. I arrived 7 minutes too late to start my shop,
For blackjack and Canuck: You both endured such painful times. (each different but both painful) I hope each of you is feeling a little better each day! smiling smiley

Wow. I hope your schedulers understood Canuck. Sorry for your loss, sincerely. P

I was doing an arches once when I puked right at my table. Would you believe that, to add insult to injury, I was never paid???

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
Market Force was very understanding. They told me when I was ready to shop again to contact them. They did not bother me or deactivate me.

That does not seem fair! I guess I should ask if you vomited in the under 15 minute window?
My husband had a kidney stone attack earlier in the summer, and there was NO WAY he could have done any work after the pain kicked in. Was he just unluckier than you, or is this another instance of him being wimpy?

KathyG,

There is no "wimp" factor when it comes to kidney stones. They all hurt.... a lot. Mine are usually small ones that pass somewhat quickly. A good dose of pain meds and I can function again within a few hours.
I arrived at a storage facility to conduct an evaluation only to discover an auction in progress covering a multitude of units. They had flyers, a large crowd of potential buyers, refreshments and an auctioneer with a loud speaker.
I was on a tight window between shops and locked my keys in my car. Then had trouble finding a locksmith to come to where I was. By the time I got the car open I was too late to do the shop. Luckily I still had another day to do it so all was not lost.
When I was new I did two fast foods the same day and reversed the reports! I knew I was doomed to deactivation or shop rejection or both. My scheduler informed me that the shops were well enough written that she was going to reverse them back, to correct them. Not only did I get paid, but I got ratings of 10 on both! You can bet your bippy that I have worked my buns off for this scheduler and will always accommodate her when she needs help. Some schedulers do wear halos.
Remember when we were following ads that were related to what we were discussing? There are two "clearing kidney stones" ads on this page right now.

WOW.I did the exact same thing when I was new and the scheduler wiped out both reports and made me redo them from scratch..

Those burgers can do that to you. They are "magical burgers" You know the burgers take more than 2 minutes to cook but they got this greasy nasty drawer that they open and pull that hunk of magical meat out and put it on the grill for a few seconds put it on a bun and dress it and wrap it and serve it all in less than two minutes.
