Why do some here feel the need to attack others?

I am not old enough to remember it either but it was required watching in my high school psychology class.

And I think Sally Field did the Gidget movies and that Flying Nun thing. Her best work was Norma Rae. Forrest Gump's mom was a long time coming.

When I come to vent about something, I usually end up giving advise on how to not get caught up in the reason I'm venting if your doing the same shop.

If you have been on the forum for a while, you will learn that some people actually have a sense of humor and don't know to end a sentence with the proper emotion-icon to reflect the fact that they are just kidding and not serious.

Then there are the one hit new members who are really old members who want to say something really nasty and create a new account. Flag those and they get taken care of quickly.

She was also in Steel Magnolias, the Spider Man movies, and she was the mother in Brothers & Sisters.

I loved Brother & Sisters! And she played a great helicopter mother.

She gave birth to a helicopter?????

I have never heard of Brothers & Sisters and I have never given birth (that I know of) but I have been in a helicopter. Does that count for anything in this enlightening conversation? {Now am I supposed to put a bunch of smiling and winking faces?}

MSC owners and schedulers. That's who pays me. Meeting posters/shoppers IRL was a huge disappointment.
Someone told me recently that I should be concerned about everyone because this might result in more indirect referrals for "who-knows-what".

Welll, if " who-knows-what" includes anything that interests me, I will try it. We'll see what happens.....

I don't see any "self appointed experts" on the forum. I do see, respect, and APPRECIATE those shoppers with years of expertise. Just like anything else in my life, I am the one who makes the decision of whether or not to take this advice.
I agree that there are ranters on the forum. I have ranted. I appreciate those who patted me on the back as much as those who told me to straighten up and fly right. By the way, the latter piece of advice has helped me tremendously in life.
And then there are harsh critics that use this medium to hide behind. The only thing I can say about them is nothing. My mom always taught me that if I didn't have anything good to say, then don't say anything! LOL
Finally, realize, that advice comes in many forms and a lot of times the best advice, is what you take from it.

Hey Guys, what do you say we all try hard to be mature adults and stop all of this one-upmanship. The forum can be a very helpful place for all of us shoppers but not the way some are using it now. Lets stop the harsh criticism of others and this constant one-upmanship.

pop...you just did what the topic of this thread is all about and to refresh your memory of the topic I am respectfully adding it here: Why do some here feel the need to attack others?
Perspective is all relative. I certainly read it as a well intended admonishment, but not as an attackwinking smiley

ha
Again, I've suggested using Subject Captions in the Subject line. For instance, if you want to rant, type, RANT and the rest of your heading. We did that on our translators forum and it was very successful.

I get the isolated feeling as mystery shoppers. I get being po'd when something goes south on a shop. We are in a very odd job. So I understand some if not many shoppers need to rant.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

I really like it when someone includes RANT in the subject line. It always makes it easier to sympathize, offer advice and just generally have a conversation with them. Maybe it's because the people who recognize they are embarking on a rant are just generally more reasonable and not so wackadoodle?

jeez, lisa...i've heard of whack-a-mole (at the carnival); whack-a-kitty (for people who hate cats); whack-a-poodle (for people who hate poodles); whack-a-GFK (for people who can't get enough of snarking on GFK); but i've never, ever heard of wackadoodle (is that for people who don't like doodlers?).

Liked for use of the word "wackadoodle" which needs to be used more.

I vote for the word wackadoodle. It's a dandy.

My 2 cents is that an "attack" is none such unless one poster calls one or more posters a name(s). Having said that, I wish that new posters with complaints, concerns or supposed "stupid" questions would not automatically be labeled as "trolls" or "whiners". These exist, as with any forum. But please try to remember how you felt when you first started and had no adjacent "office mate" to ask your "stupid" questions to. Have a heart.

exactly...and there are wayyyy toooo many of the "old-timers" who feel that this is their "turf" and take the "how dare" attitude and belittle the newbies for asking questions or make postings that they feel are inane or insane or whatever. It's one thing to criticize a MSC for their continued transgressions but to belittle someone for asking a question that might seem obvious to a more seasoned shopper is a form of bullying.
