Why do some here feel the need to attack others?

Is that a personal attack, Brian? LOL!

bestofbothworlds = the only way to have it...hmm, i hope some very tender feathers haven't been ruffled (too much). Some folks need to spend their day(s) nicely nestled in their warm and comfy Snuggies with a calming cuppa Chamomile and their tabby on their lap(s).

That being said, tho, most of us (hopefully) can differentiate between attack mode and snark (not malicious) and humor and off-topic stuff and constructive criticism with a measure of useful information thrown in.

But others, unfortunately, are not able to lighten up and smell the coffee (but not here in wacky Utah where devil coffee is forbidden to be even smelled due to the predominant religion...but that is a topic for another forum, eh?)

No doubt I shall be castigated (by some) for these musings but hey...bring it on.
I have posted a few times. Mostly supportive comments, HOWEVER, there were instances were I have noticed even in my created topic, there were assumptions, and aggression. That's why I choose to carefully post. Some people just cross that line, and speak their thoughts by writing it. They jump the gun. Someone here even posted one time, "It seemed as if you have only been shopping for three months." Just by assumption and sarcastic insult, under the belt. Is there support? Yes Are there insults, and aggression? Yes

You can't make everyone happy, you're not pizza!!!
Unfortunately with online posts it is very hard to tell the tone the Poster is intending. Some might mean to be snarky some might mean to be malicious but it is very hard to tell, it all depends on the reader's mood as well on how a message can be translated.
When I read something nasty ( or that I think is nasty) I just choose to not respond and to not add fuel to the fire. It's very easy to get into an online attack and hide behind a screen name. I tell my kids that if you don't have anything nice to say please keep your mouth shut so I choose to follow that advice.

When I first started posting here I found it to be a valuable resource for my shopping needs Maybe I was too sensitive or maybe I just took things the wrong way but I began to notice that some of the posters wanted to joke more than post, make fun more than give advice, and generally just not be as helpful as I found them to be at first.

I'm not putting anyone down, maybe it's just my personality. But I stopped posting as much because of all of stuff that I interpreted to just be snarky and unnecessary for the questions that I was asking. When I found myself blocking people I knew that it was time for a break. I lurk a lot,but I hesitate to post because I just don't know how to deal with the snark without being snarky myself. And since I know for a fact that schedulers read the posts and sometimes offer input I would hate for them to see me in a less than positive light.
Wow, I go away for the weekend and all Hell breaks loose. Parkcitybrian is now a member of the Mystery Shopping Police? Or is he King of the Dogpile Brigade?

I'm fairly (like 99.999999999999%) certain that was a joke.

Wow, bgriffin. YOU do not recognize sarcasm when it is thrust upon you? Wow!

ETA: I do not think the OP was kidding though. He seems to have disappeared.

I agree. If I could spell facetious (I think that's right) I would say that was PCB's intent.
I think I'm confused.

I believe that happens often.

How is that different than every other day of the week?
Too many quotes. Re-reading it looks like I should have responded to Sybil's post and not PCB (I think).

I detected the sarcasm in PCB's post. I apologize but I did not detect it in Sybil's in the least bit. lol

Who is Sybil?

ETA: And there is no reason to SHOUT, pinchers81.

Do you mean in the personally identifiable sense, or in the metaphysical sense--like who IS she; what are her likes, her dislikes, her raison d'etre? I'm having a hard time discerning how you intended that post.

If we would all just remember to use the sarcasm font it would greatly reduce all this confusion.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

AKA Sally2

OMG I hate when the best jokes have to be explained. Especially one with so many layers. :/

Sybil2, Sally2 refers to Sally Field who played Sybil in the movie. Probably.

Now why is bgriffin making chicken jokes?

Who had multiple personalities, implying that Sybil also has multiple personalities, one of which is named Sally. It was a total circular joke. Perhaps a bit obscure though?

Huh? Must have taken a wrong turn, and happened into a personal conversation, not a relevant thread.

I actually got the Sally joke.
I'm at least 25.

I just looked it up on imdb. I hate to tell you but I was not even a thought yet when that movie came out.

But Forrest Gump was out in 1994. Now I feel old.
