When the USPS Changes from *Company X* to *Company Y*....

Will the scenarios likely change? Should I use up my 15x12x10 boxes before 10/1? Is there any precedent for this?

Use up your boxes if you can. I'm sure there will be some changes, though I am not privy to what those will be. Every year some clients move from company X to company Y, begin shopping, end shopping. There are never any guarantees. Company X may pay the shopper more than company Y or less or the same, they may have more or less or the same requirements, they may have the same or different windows to do shops, they may have the same or different pay schedule. In the past with the USPS shops with the company before the current one there was an oversize box shop, but they sent the boxes out to us to turn around and reship. I suspect that won't happen again. I suspect there will be an oversize box, but whether it is the same size as what you have, there is no way of knowing.
Will there be a company Y for sure or is there already one? I know the current MSC sent out the email stating the they will no longer be using them...but I wasn't sure if the post office was discontinuing the program entirely or not. I am not asking for the name of the MSC of course, just curious if you know something I don't.
Yes, there is a Company Y.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Okay...it must be a company I am not signed up with yet. Has the program rolled out yet? Is the MSC a well-known company? Thank you...
There definitely will be a company Y as I have been contacted by them with confirmation.
My guess is there will be no changes since company Y has had the contract all along, they just subcontracted it out to company Z. (All of these letters are confusing)

x = the old company
y = the new company
z = forget anything after y
I'm signed up with the new company, but haven't seen anything about the USPS shops on their website. I wonder why?

the scheduler who contacted me said "soon"
The scheduler for Y (and W as I guess it is the new company and the very old company)who contacted me said they will be allowing people to send their own things to their own places...no more requirement like for the current C shops that they must be mailed to a specific place. Beyond that she was not sure what other differences there will be.
For those who recently signed up I have not seen any jobs on their website and I checked about 10 popular states a few days ago. I sent an email to the scheduling company that was mentioned by someone in the other thread and heard back with the above information. They have not had a whole lot of clients for Y but as soon as they start this shop up they will be having many shops. Next month sometime....
The current msp doing the usps shops is doing them as a sub contract for the msp that will be taking over them in house. The fees went up according to the letter I received announcing the upcoming shops and the scenarios looked the same. So try to sum it up USPS hired msp A to do the shops. Msp A subcontracted them out to MSP B who is the one we have been doing them for. In oct MSP A will be doing them in house and no longer contracting them out to MSP B. The only thing we as shoppers need to worry about is finding out who is MSP A (many including myself know) and that the fees we are are a little higher.

Shopping Western NY, Northeast and Central PA, and parts of Ohio and West Virginia. Have car will travel anywhere if the monies right.
I am with the old one because I just saw some shops pop up on my list, but I haven't been contacted with who the new one will be. Hopefully they will start showing up on Jobslinger.
I can direct you to the correct site if you contact me. info@summitscheduling.com

Edit - it makes my life a little easier if you email me at the email address above instead of PMs here, so I don't have to keep coming to the site and accessing the box here.

Oh snap. I anticipate a lot of emails coming to you now.
Oh good lord. So basically it's the company that had them about 6 or years ago? If so, I am signed up with them because I used to do a ton of those shops with company W before the most recent MSC got the contract--and I never realzed that company W subcontracted them out to company X, I just though that company X won the contract.
The company that offered them prior to the current company, which sent out packets of paper to be mailed or boxes to be reshipped is NOT the company that will be doing them. They too may have been a subcontractor for all I know.
Thank you for the clarification. I emailed the scheduler who posted above so I should hear something back soon to put an end to my curiosity. The company that had them prior to the current MSC (that mailed out boxes of paper for us to send) had them for an awfully long time. I think I had been doing them since 2003 with that company, so I can't imagine who was doing them before, if anyone. If someone was doing them around 2000, it was probably via paper report forms that were faxed or mailed in!
If I recall correctly, when I first was doing them for the company before there were paper forms to be mailed that came with the packet of materials to be shipped. They were one of the last to attempt to get techy it would seem.
Nope - they will not be on Jobslinger. I suggest that you contact the Scheduler who graciously offered to enlighten shoppers.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
Actually, having to find somewhere in Zone 4 to ship oversize packages is going to be hard for me. I think that my few qualifying friends are going to quickly get tired of getting large, mostly empty boxes. I have believed that the current MSC must have been paying the various food banks a fee - otherwise IMHO the disposal costs for all of the boxes and packaging material would have been too much for them to pay. There must have been days when USPS had to send multiple trucks to deliver the large boxes.

I know a lot of people in my Zone 4. It's Zone 5 that is hard for me.
You are correct! I was mistaken when I wrote (and thought) Zone 4. Now I know that I am really in trouble. I don't have any Zone 5 friends. Lots of Zone 8 friends, but that doesn't help unless I am looking for a discount.

Well, I did email the scheduler yesterday afternoon, but she must be busy, and being the weekend I expect I won't hear back until next week.
