Could you get by without shop bonuses?

In the short time I have been doing this, technology has changed. People are shopping on the fly, in a manner of speaking. If I were available, I would do more shops. Many more shops. I would be in some of those isolated places.

The technology (and a little willingness to be rustic or resourceful) would provide efficiency and economy.

I've gotten to the point now where I have established a good enough track record to start getting calls from schedulers. All bonused, all short fused. Nice additions to regular shops. I just do MS for fun and extra $ anyway.

I did a pizza pickup shop for dinner last night with nothing but reimbursement. It was Jet's though. They make a good pie and easy report and photo. If it was the Botox man pizza, it would need to be 6 miles or less and $20-$25 bonus to get me interested.

I never had Jets before so I took one to see what their pizza was like. I was glad I did, never ordered from them again. Their pizza was too greasy for me.

My base would be unaffected as I have a regular audits which pay ridiculously well and all the local video work I care to take. The remainder of my assignments would drop dramatically.

I do a good amount of non-bonused work each month. But without the bonused work, I would have to take another job. There are also lots of shops I would not take without the bonus - too many jobs at too low of a fee.

I checked my spreadsheet for last month and I totaled a blazing $30.00 in bonuses for the month. The month came in at over $2,000.00 for fees and reimbursements. It included a bunch of Valeros entered at base that are really part of a bundle with a pretty nice premium so that will be a plus when the final payment comes in. That is way less than my bonuses usually total and I expect I have some new company out there on the road. I can get by without bonuses and it looks like that's the new reality right now.
