So.... I'm on hour 12 here. I know that I write slowly, but looking at the report, I think I'm about a quarter done. Ever have one of those reports that goes on and on and on and on?

For a 12 hour report, I would expect to have spent the day at a 5 star resort using all the restaurants and services they offer. Reports will get much faster if you can get past the initial writers block. I write them as fast as I can type now. I already know how I'm going to word the report as I'm eating an item that is off in some way or seeing something that is not up to par.

Yeah, it was a 3-day with multiple restaurants and services. I wish I could teach myself to write stream-of-consciousness style so that it would roll off.

This makes me wonder about a shop I'm going to do today. It's a pretty straight forward customer service evaluation and it doesn't pay much. I've accepted it because it's my first shop with this MSC. At the end of the report it requires a page long (1000 words) narrative of my overall visit. It sounds like an extremely long narrative for such a simple straight forward shop. Does that sound normal?

One thousand words is not really so much to describe an entire shop visit. Is there only one narrative, which requires 1,000 words, or are there multiple narratives? If there is only one, that doesn't sound bad at all.

There are approximately 70 words in your post. How long is the visit? If it is more than 10-15 minutes, I would think you would need 1,000 words to sufficiently describe what took place.

I sure hope that you are retired. I hate coming home to deal with the family and having to try to get that kind of a report finished at the same time.

But they are definitely for 5-star hotels or resorts, with a spa visit and multiple dining outlets, with perhaps car service and/or tour service.

Worth it? Absolutely!

BTW - what's the report timeframe? How long after your visit, does the report have to be submitted?

I agree with AustinMom; 1,000 words is not really that many for a narrative--you'll be able to reach that without much trouble!

Yes, like the other poster stated, I've had 3 day stays at resorts with flight reimbursed. The 12 hours spent on the reports were well-worth the experience and time out of state.

Shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado. 33 year old male and willing to travel!

With said shop done and reported I can confirm that indeed 1000 words wasn't so difficult to write. It was the first time I had seen such a request so it sounded worse than it actually was. Now here is to hoping it will be well received and accepted.

Activate your voice on your phone, and use it to write an emails to yourself. It will cut your writing time tremendously on long narratives.

72 hours. I have a few left and "only" 178 questions to answer. This is the third in the last 30 days. I think I'll be taking a break from writing for awhile.

That's positively luxurious compared to Coyle's 36-hour submittal deadline after check-out. Not sure how others deal with their deadline, especially when traveling back from international assignments. Anyone? Anyone?

I've contemplated booking another room for a few days after check-out just to work on the reports, especially when faced with (a) return flight(s) with 8-20 hours in travel time.

These shops sound so intriguing, though I bet they're a pain.
