I always have my Fitbit on, so it is being used while I shop. I try to get 10,000 steps a day, but I only shop part-time, so mystery shopping really doesn't affect it much.
I have an app on my phone. When I first started using it, I was surprised to see the distance I walked doing shops. I set a goal. Passed it. Set another goal, a few thousand more steps, with shortened time. Achieved. Now, I have a goal that takes some doing to reach.
I read an interesting article about FitBit. There was a lady who had a beginning goal of 10,000 steps but she decided to make it 20,000 steps. She had the FitBit on all the time and became obsessed with making the goals higher and she said FitBit took over her life. She eventually removed the FitBit and vowed to never wear it again...tongue sticking out smiley

If someone has an addictive personality they can use ANYTHING to an extreme.

I have an app on my phone that counts steps (along with flights of stairs climbed and workouts, that I have to manually enter). It works well, but it's sometimes hard to carry my phone around the house so. I have a Fitbit on my Christmas list

I was surprised to see a thread about FitBit. I just purchased two of the FitBit Charge HRs today on a Cyber Monday deal. One for my dad as a Xmas gift and one for me so we can compete with each other and kick each other's butts.
People who have the ShopYourWay Rewards card (this is the rewards card for Sears/ K Mart ) can link their fitness tracker to their account via FitStudio by Sears (www.FitStudio.com). There is a goal to meet each week and you will earn 2000 points if you reach it. You sync your fitness tracker with the FitStudio website and it adds points to your ShopYourWay card. I have used the points towards tools, it has been worth it. You are using your fitness tracker anyhow, might as well get rewarded for it.
Up until recently, you got 5,000 points every time you walked 15 miles. I was bummed to see it reduced to 2.000. Apparently it's because some people were abusing it. Every week I was able to get a bottle of detergent, a pack of toilet paper, a bottle of shampoo, or something similar for free by going to Kmart. Now, I can get a package of napkins, a box of envelopes, a loaf of bread, or a gallon of milk.

Honestly, my trips to Kmart and Sears have increased exponentially since wearing a Fitbit and linking it to Fitstudio.com.

You can also link your tracker to Walgreens and earn points also.

A Dad shopping the Ark-LA-Tex and beyond.
Someone else told me about linking it to Walgreens and I totally forgot to do it. To be honest, there isn't a Walgreens in my area and that's probably why.
My wife purchased a new Samsung Gear Fit, she gave me her Fitbit Flex that I gave her last year. I had recommended she get the Charge HR but the Samsung one syncs with the Samsung S Health App and her Galaxy S6. Either one is fine, the Gear Fit though is the least expensive.

Maybe we should start a thread in the General section. Forum members can have a friendly competition using their FitBits.
Bummer, Kmart/Sears/ShopYourWay is discontinuing their activity tracker program. One can no longer earn points by one's fitbit. The program closes February 10th, so use up those points ASAP. Check fitstudio.com for more details.
