Editors Finding Errors When There's Not One

I just wanted to sound off and say that I just completed a shop and the editor returns the report asking for an employee's name during the interaction. I knew I put the name in the report and after I went in to verify I was right (which I was), I hit the "Submit" button without changing anything...my grade for the report? 9/10 and I was thanked for "making the appropriate changes." I found this interesting and felt the need to share...

That's happened to me before as well but it wasn't about a name. They were asking me to clarify a no answer by putting a comment in the narrative that was already there. It was a Beyond Hello editor.
That happens a lot. It happened with Sentry in a very light narrative report, so I don't understand how they missed the comment they claimed was not there. It's not like they had much to read.
Editors make mistakes, too, apparently.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
I just had one where the editor stated I did not address a issue that was visible in one of my pictures. I found the sentence, where I had addressed the issue, and moved it to the beginning of the comments. All was good after that.

I also get this on occasion. Since I started doing this over 8 years ago I always keep a copy of the report before I hit the submit. Some MSP systems let you save/print a copy and others let you see a summary, that again you can save/print.

Anytime there has been a question of missing information, I refer back to the filed report and if the info was there, I send a copy of the saved file to the editor.

90% of the time I never hear anything else from the editor, but get the proper rating without reductions. Others I will get a thanks and a sorry they missed it, and a few I will get, wow, I see on your copy you submitted it but it did not come across in our system.

The long and short of it is I have never been docked any points for a missing data request because I had proof it was not missing, unless of course it was and was my mistake, but then I would have the proof that I was in error.

Happened to me recently when an editor said that I did not have pics of the restroom and the front counter. I referred to the shop instructions, and there was no requirement for those, so I emailed her that part of my instructions and she still argued. So then I sent her the whole PDF of the instructions, and she still said the same thing. Then I emailed the help desk and a few hours later the editor apologized and said she was looking at older guidelines. Always a good idea to keep copies of shop guidelines.
