5 Guys question

I ordered a grilled cheese and now I wonder how to answer the question if the sandwich came with a bun. The section was titled "bread." Do I answer the questions for the bun even thought it technically was not a bun but was bread?

I thought it was a bun that they make it on?

The locations here use the bun. It's kind of inverted/inside out, so the top and the bottom of the bun is in the inside.
Does not look like the hamburger bun at all. Looks more like bread but it is shaped like a bun. It really is good though.

Thanks! I'll bet that is why it looks different! I am doing the report now so I will just call it a bun!
Random Note:

I finally got around to trying this chain, to see if I would be willing to mystery shop there. I spent a long time looking at the menu because I'm picky like that----the guy behind the counter asks me if it's my first time in, I say yes, and he virtually gives me a song and dance number. Had me scared ****ess that he knew or suspected I was a shopper. Probably just suspected, or maybe I'm being paranoid.....but anyway, some of the fries were cold, and so was part of the bun. Wasn't super impressed. Not sure if I'll take them as a client, and probably would not return to that one, at least not for a very long time.
Hmmm...I would suspect that' unusual? At least based on the 5 locations in my area that I have visited. My fries have never been cold and my bun has always been toasty...but that's just from my area of the country.
There are 2 in my area and both are really good. I got tired of the burgers so just switched to the grilled cheese, which I really like. The fries have always been good.
I had the grilled cheese in the Gatlinburg Tennessee 5 Guys but I was not impressed. (not a shop) I guess I love my bread to be smothered in butter. smiling smiley
Yes, its definitely a bun and to the other poster, I am surprised by that. Our 5 Guys here is shopped weekly and they would be silly not to know it. I always get the song and dance when I go and food is always piping hot and delicious. Im sure by now, no matter how covert we try, there are things that they look for to give the MS away. It's always great to try to fool them though
All they do is invert the bun and place extra cheese inside it and they butter it well and make certain it is well grilled and crushed. I have ordered a grilled cheese and asked for grilled onions and a hamburger patty. In other words, I ordered a patty melt. It came with cheese on both sides of the bun and prevented it from getting soggy.
My husband and I tried 5 Guys when they first opened and were not impressed. I scheduled a shop last month and dragged him with me. It was great and he hasn't stopped talking about the how good it is!

Some days you just have to create your own sunshine.
Here the grilled cheese is done with a bun on backwards (inside out?)
Get it with bacon!
I shop the 4 local 5 guys shops all the time, I am always amazed as I get the emails for a $3.00 bonus good for 12 hours only then it goes away. They usually call me on a Saturday morning and ask if I can do 1 or 2 shops that weekend for a 14-18.00 bonus on top of the food. I know the shops by heart and can knock out the survey pretty easily. I always watch them cook and shake the fries, if the fries come out in less than 5 minutes they are usually not good, but it has only happened a couple of times.

Order an extra slice of cheese on the cheeseburger it is no charge and makes a difference in my opinion.

The people at the one nearest me know me as a regular but I also eat there as just a customer too.

Did not know that.

Panera Bread free stuff

I discovered through APP ordering that you can order more than one piece of the french bread at Panera and there is no charge for it. Of course on a shop, you would not want to do this at the register and mess up the timings. I always get a bowl of soup or chili and want extra bread. I wait till they deliver my food at the pickup window and then stop my timer.

You can then ask for extra bread or ask them to put croutons on your soup or chili. Then ask for a real butter knife if you are going to butter the bread. If I'm having tomato soup, I'll have three of those little pieces of french bread to dunk in the soup. You can also ask for extra whole grain bread as well.

The one that I have been to has been great! Always fresh and I love the fries! But there always are too many so I bring them home and mix them in with my dog's food at dinner time.
If the scheduler for these sees this, could you contact me? I would really like to do these shops. judith@summitscheduling.com

Sounds like a strange request. Why don't you call this MSC. and talk shop ------->MSC to MSC. or apply to the MSC and shop for them yourself. or talk to the Client's marketing team and "steal" the Client away. But offer-ing, US, the shoppers, more in fee for turning you on to a real decent dealsmiling smileysmiling smiley

In the grand scheme of things, practically every shopper knows what MSC shops 5 Guysgrinning smiley

I've shopped probably 25 different 5 Guys and did have one that charged for extra cheese.

I haven't yet signed up with the MSC that does these, but I know who it is. But we had take-out from our local Five Guys the other night, and it was delish! I really must sign up to do these. Even if the pay just defrays the cost, it gives me a reason to go more often. We love their regular fries and have started also ordering a small order of the Cajun fries, too. Since it's only 5 minutes from me, I can't figure out why I haven't gotten around to signing with the MSC. I just keep forgetting, but I won't put it off any longer! Now I'm cravin' Five Guys again.

Hey Birdy, occasionally they will up the fee enough to cover two burgers, and you don't have to get extra fries because even one little fry is enough for two people! I love me some 5 Guys.
Oh, one pet peeve is their online ordering--you can't order extra bacon using the online ordering system. That's a bummer.

Well, that would be great! Somehow, our little family of four manages to polish off both a large order of regular fries and the small Cajun fries without much trouble.... Although there are usually a few leftover scraps, those go into scrambled eggs the next morning! Yum.

I guess if you order a burger, you have to get it with a bun? I've been ordering my burger in a bowl, and love it that way! The only problem is that the last two times, they've totally left off the sauces! I got all the toppings I ordered, but no ketchup, mayo, or A-1 sauce. I don't know what's up with that. But my DH and the kids all get their burgers on buns. So, I guess that would work.

Is there a limit on the number of people you can bring with you? Usually on my dining shops you can bring one other person, but there's one I used to do where I could bring the two kids if there was another adult present. So the four of us would almost always go.

No, they removed that requirement (it's been awhile since I did one) but the last time I did a shop there a few months ago you were allowed to get a bunless burger. I don't remember about any limits on how many people can go, someone else can probably answer that better than I. I would guess you, another adult, and 2 kids would be just fine.
You have to order your own meal first, no limit to how many people can go with (that I know of). Just be careful that your guests don't distract you from your duties.

On Android, instead of just tapping the item and having the check box to the right check on or off, you press and hold the screen and a pop up window will appear offering, "Extra, Lite or Regular" for each condiment.
I have not seen the Apple APP.

Was your bun fresh, toasted, and in good condition?

I could not locate the lower bun. There were some wet sponge like pieces of bread, yet I could not determine if they were toasted.

When I read this I interpreted this as meaning you can order other peoples food on the same order number as long as you place your complete order first in accordance with the guidelines. Is that how others interpreted this?

Thanks for the info! As hous asked, do you put everyone's order on the same ticket? Or do you order and pay for yours first, so the receipt shows just your own meal?

And I love taking my family with me because they're all old enough to help make observations, and they don't blurt out that we're doing a mystery shop! LOL. They've learned to be very sneaky, just like me!
