Apology to Editors.

Something I need to work on this year: Typing on my laptop. I got a new Lenovo laptop this year that converts to a tablet. While I love the thin and light design, I have noticed a typing issue. Depending on how fast I go, some of the letters do not appear on the page, and I do not notice right away. Another issue is probably due to the placement of the tracking pad below the keyboard. While I am typing, my palm and wrist will hit the pad, and move the cursor to the center of the comment I am typing. As a result, some editors are seeing poor spelling, or oddly placed sentences. I am working on this, and did not understand why I was suddenly getting comments about spelling or grammar. To all of the lovely editors-I am working on it. Thank you for your patience!! Apologies for making your eyes cross.

I had to laugh when I read your post, jroby1. For a while I was using a touch screen computer out on my screen porch, where I work on reports most of the year. Doing reports in the evening (and yes, on into the wee small hours some times), the light of the screen attracted small flying insects that were small enough to make it through the screen. When a bug landed on the screen, the screen was sensitive enough to move the cursor to that location. That, of course, would scramble sentences for me in most unusual ways. I did turn off the touch screen feature and all was well, but I'm glad to be back to a machine without a touch screen.
If you can't adjust to the cramped keyboard and admit defeat, I have a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard that will "pair" with three devices at once and you can quick switch between devices with a hotkey combination. It is a nice brushed aluminum and looks nice in the living room on the coffee table as it is classy. Recharges with any USB power cable.

I have it set to type with my Phone, Pad, and PC and can switch between them instantly.

scanman,
I am considering buying a Samsung S 9.7 tablet (32gb) and matching keyboard. Can I use both the keyboard and a Bluetooth mouse at the same time. someone told me that I probably cannot use two Bluetooth items at a time on it.

That's pretty awesome, but I don't think I have bluetooth.

I have not seen a phone or tablet made in years without Bluetooth. If you have a laptop that is very old or a full sized PC, then you can get a Bluetooth USB plug for it:

I have a Samsung Galaxy Light and have paired my Windows PC for speaker out to PC, PC mouse and keyboard control of the phone all at the same time with Windows 10. The phone was playing music out the PC speakers and I was typing and mousing around the phone screen. As soon as you pair the mouse, a cursor pops up on the phone. This was with Android 4.4.2. Any newer OS will work without a doubt. Make certain you have a Bluetooth 4.0 device on the PC if you want to use a microphone, stereo sound from phone and mouse/keyboard all at once.
Wow! Sounds like more fun than I imagined! I'm about to start a big new project and I think I will shelter some of those fees by buying the tablet sooner, rather than later.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 phone and plan to keep it, as it actually gets better ratings that the S6!

I have the exact same keyboard and love the switching between my phone, iPad and computer. Bluetooth controllers are specifically great this time of year when it's windy and sometimes get a shock from touching the laptop directly. It also makes it comfortable to compose narratives on cramped flights if I hang the iPad from the pocket in the seat in front of me.
I had the issue of typing getting messed up by the trackpad. I disabled the track pad, as I use a trackball connected by USB anyway.
